Early Childhood Educators. In the event that a vacancy occurs or a new position is created during the period July 1st to September 30th, the position(s) shall be posted by September 30th for a period of one (1) week excluding holidays. Employees wishing to apply for the vacancy or new position(s) shall do so in writing within the period indicated on the posting. Employees may apply for any temporary position which is greater than three months in duration. Employees applying for Temporary positions of three months or less shall only be considered if the available positon involves an increase in hours or rate of pay.

Early Childhood Educators. 52 The Parties agree that the Early Childhood Educators and Lead Early Childhood Educators (ECE’s) will become Bargaining Unit members upon the signing of this Collective Agreement (or before that date if mutually agreed to by the Parties) under the terms and conditions of this Collective Agreement except : a) ECE’s will be paid for all days when classes are cancelled (and not required to attend work on such days) and, in exchange, will not receive any additional remuneration for attending in-services, PD and/or special events, or extra hours of work that are approved by the Manager of Pre-Primary & Early Years Program; and b) ECE’s are not permitted to transfer to any other ECE positions during a school year, unless applying for a position with more hours or increase in remuneration.
Early Childhood Educators. (a) An employee engaged in duties carrying a higher rate than his or her ordinary classification for the whole of the day will be paid for the time so worked at the higher rate provided that: i. the greater part of the time so worked is spent in performing duties carrying the higher rate; ii. an employee engaged as an Early Childhood Educator Band 5 who is required to undertake the duties of a Director by reason of the Director’s absence will not be entitled to payment under this clause unless the Director’s absence exceeds two consecutive full working days; iii. an employee engaged as an Early Childhood Educator Band 5 who is required to undertake duties of the Director by reason of the Director’s absence will not be entitled to payment under this clause unless the Director’s absence is for the whole of the day; iv. for the purposes of this clause, the duties of any employee will be determined by reference to Schedule 1 – Table of rates of pay and his or her job description.
Early Childhood Educators. 27.7.2(a) Where the Council intends to temporarily close (or reduce to nucleus) the Employee’s establishment or a section thereof for the purposes (inter alia) of allowing annual leave to the employees concerned or a majority of them the Employee may give in writing to such employees one month’s notice (or in the case of any employee engaged after the giving of such notice, notice on the date of the employee’s engagement) that the Employee elects to apply the provisions of this subclause; and thereupon 27.7.2(b) any such employee who at the date of closing is entitled to the Employee’s annual leave will be given the Employee’s annual leave as on and from the date of closing and, in addition will be paid one-twelfth of the Employee’s ordinary pay for any period of employment after accrual of his /her right to the annual leave and up to but excluding the date of closing;
Early Childhood Educators. A casual employee shall be paid 125% of the hourly rate which a full-time employee would receive. Work performed on weekends or public holidays shall be paid at ordinary time plus 75%. Provided that an employee engaged as a casual shall be excluded from the provisions relating to annual leave, overtime, meal allowance and sick leave.

Early Childhood Educators. A part-time employee is one engaged for less than full-time hours and who regularly works stated hours. A part-time employee, for working ordinary time will receive 1/38th of the weekly wage prescribed for his or her classification for each hour worked.
