Experience Teachers shall a) Gain experience while holding a valid Alberta teaching certificate or its equivalent in the relevant governing jurisdiction, and working in a position that requires a teaching certificate as a condition of employment; and, b) Not gain experience during vacation periods and leaves of absence without salary. 3.4.1. Experience increments shall be earned by a teacher on contract after one hundred and forty (140) operational days with the School Division. 3.4.2. Experience increments shall be earned by a substitute teacher after one hundred and forty (140) operational days in the preceding five (5) years with the School Division. 3.4.3.
