LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITHOUT SALARY. The board shall grant a regular bus driver a full-time leave of absence without salary for reasons it deems valid for a maximum duration of twelve (12) consecutive months; the leave of absence may be renewed.
LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITHOUT SALARY. Leaves of absence without salary are not granted automatically. The school board must grant most requests, which must be made by a specific date. Eligibility for leave of absence without salaryThe board will grant a regular employee a full-time or part-time leave of absence without salary for reasons which it deems valid, for a maximum duration of twelve consecutive months (5–9.01). Types of leave of absence without salary • Leave of absence to enable a regular employee to accompany his or her spouse whose place of work changes temporarily or permanently (5– 9.02); • leave to extend the leave provided for in Appendix XIV (leave for the spring and fall goose hunting season), in conformity with the school calendar in force in the community; • Leave of absence for studies in a program leading to a diploma in an officially recognized institution (5–9.04); • Leave of absence without salary of a minimum duration of one month without exceeding twelve consecutive months. The regular employee may benefit from such a leave every time he or she has accumulated at least five years of seniority (5–9.05); • Leave of absence without salary for an employee suffering from a prolonged illness (5–9.06). Xxxxxxx of the leave of absence without salary • Leave of absence without salary may be renewed at the employee’s request; • The request must be made in writing, at least 30 days before the beginning of the leave, and must specify the reasons for the request (5– 9.07). Return to the service of the school board • In the first six (6) months of leave, the employee may, before or during the leave without pay, terminate the leave for good reason, by submitting a written request to that effect at least thirty days in advance (5-9.10) • On his or her return, the employee will be reinstated in the position he or she held upon his or her departure (5–9.11). Use of the leave of absence without salary • The employee who uses his or her leave for purposes other than those for which he or she obtained it will be considered as having resigned as of the beginning of the leave of absence (5–9.13). Temporary employees Article 5–9.00 does not apply.

Moreover, an employee may participate in the other group insurance plans and the supplemental pension plan, provided he or she pay the total amount of premiums and contributions due. Upon his or her return, the employee shall resume his or her position unless it was abolishedduring his or her absence or the employee concerned was displaced pursuant to article In the case of resignation, during or at the end of this leave of absence, the employee shall reimburse the board any amount paid for and in the name of the said employee. The employee who uses his or her leave of absence for purposes other than those for which he or she obtained it shall be considered as having resigned as of the beginning of his or her absence. The leave of absence without salary provided for in clause may be a part-time leave, under the same conditions. In this case, the employee concerned shall retain his or her regular or tenured employee status, where applicable, but for the other working conditions he or she shall be considered as a part-time employee.
LEAVES OF ABSENCE WITHOUT SALARY. ‌ 7-3.01 The Board may grant a professional a leave without salary for one year for reasons it deems valid. However, the Board cannot refuse a tenured professional who so requests a full-time leave without salary for a maximum duration of one year if the granting of such a leave allows the Board to use the services of a professional on availability, provided that such a professional on availability held, at the time of his or her placement on availability, a position in the locality where the professional who requests the leave without salary is assigned. The Board may also grant a professional who has acquired his or her tenure under article 5-6.00 a part-time leave of absence without salary for a specific period for reasons it deems valid. The provisions of this article shall apply, with the necessary changes, to the professional who benefits from such a leave. 7-3.02 Notwithstanding the first paragraph of clause 7-3.01, the regular professional shall be entitled, after having completed at least 5 years of continuous service, to a leave without salary for the total number of hours of his or her regular workweek for one school year or for any other period of 12 months agreed to between the professional and the Board. The professional concerned must give the Board a written notice of at least 90 days before the beginning of the school year or the 12-month period during which he or she intends to benefit from such a leave. 7-3.03 The Board shall permit a professional to take a leave without salary for a period that can extend to the end of the school year when the request for leave indicates the expected date of leave and if: a) the death of his or her spouse or of his or her dependant child1 occurred within 30 days prior to the request; b) his or her spouse or his or her dependant child suffers from a serious illness which must be confirmed in a medical certificate; c) the request for leave is related to his or her family life (divorce, separation, succession, assuming responsibility for the professional’s father, mother, in-laws, brother, sister, xxxxx, nephew, grand-child, spouse who can no longer take care of himself or herself, and a child when there is a change in custody arrangements as well as for the traditional Cree adoption).
