Prior Teaching Experience. For step placement, year-for- year credit will be allowed on the basis of one (1) increment for each year of verified teaching experience not to exceed established limits. A year's experience is obtained by full- time teaching or by other full-time approved educational service in a public or private accredited or government approved educational institution as a regular certificated (if a public school) teacher, counselor, or librarian for a period of not less than seventy-five percent (75%) of one hundred seventy-five (175) days in a school year. Employment as a teaching, research or laboratory assistant will only be accepted as qualifying experience when the faculty member was the teacher of record. Periods of full-time teaching of less than a school year, as measured in full semesters and/or full quarters or trimesters, regardless of when taught, may be added together to qualify for a full year's experience.

Additional credit may be given by special action of the Board upon recommendation by the Superintendent. Such experience must be in a public school or accredited private school. No credit shall be given for half years. (1) A new employee holding a special credential in music, business, art, physical education, or a similar field may be given credit for practical experience which has been evaluated and approved. (2) Credit for military service will be given to a new employee who held a valid teaching credential before entering the military service. Such credit will be granted at the rate of one year's experience for 24 months of peacetime military service and one year's experience for each 12 months of wartime military service.
Prior Teaching Experience. In the event of a licensed staff reduction based on lack of enrollment reasons, said licensed staff member will have the right to be reinstated for a period of two years after being terminated. “All terms and conditions of employment not specifically covered by this agreement are subject to the Board’s exclusive direction and control and will not be the subject of negotiations during the term of this agreement.”
