Common use of Funeral Leave Clause in Contracts

Funeral Leave. In case of a death in the immediate family of an employee, the employee will be paid for a reasonable period of absence, depending upon the circumstances, but not to exceed three (3) days, provided he attends the funeral. In no case will he receive more than his normal week’s pay. “ Immediate family” shall mean spouse, parent, mother-in-law, father-in-law, child, brother, sister, grandparents or any relative residing with the employee.

An employee requesting funeral leave shall notify the EMPLOYER as soon as the necessity for a reasonable period of absence, depending upon the circumstances, but not to exceed three (3) days, provided he attends the funeral.
