Built upon the success of the World Bank Open Traffic pilot program launched in the Philippines in April 2016, the project aims making traffic data derived from GRAB drivers’ Geographical Positioning System (GPS) streams open to the public, under an open data license. Issues that this data will help address include traffic signal timing plans, public transit provision, roadway infrastructure needs, emergency traffic management, and travel demand management. The key objectives of GRAB are as follows: • Enhance Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) capacity for traffic data collection and analysis with the view to develop better evidence-based solutions to address traffic congestion, urban mobility and road safety challenges. • Stimulate substitution of fossil-fuel by bio-fuel by greening GRAB’ fleet. • Promote innovative solutions to address eco-friendly urban mobility in Phnom Penh and in Siem Reap.
