Infrastructure improvements make travel by walking, transit, and bicycling safer and more attractive. Information and encouragement programs help Portlanders learn to get around in new ways. The program’s objective is to make biking, walking, and transit more affordable and accessible therefore serving as economic, physical, and mental health solutions during and after the crisis. Each of these program elements will be designed, adapted, and evaluated to engage communities that have not traditionally participated in decision-making about the transportation system – or have been disadvantaged by that system.
