Leave for Professional Association/College. Duties (a) Elected or appointed officials shall be given leave of absence without pay in order to attend short monthly, special membership, or executive meetings of the professional association(s)/college(s). This will be determined by operational requirements, and local management receiving advance notice of not less than 48 hours. The term "short" shall be deemed to apply to periods not exceeding 90 minutes. (b) Leave of absence without pay shall be granted to employees to attend the annual meeting and conferences of each of the national professional association(s) or their successor organization(s). Time allotment shall be the number of days of the meeting and conference(s) plus reasonable travelling time. The employee will be entitled only to the time they actually require and may be required to substantiate their claim. (c) Leave of absence without pay shall be granted to employees to attend the annual meeting and conferences of each of the provincial professional association(s)/college(s). Time allotment shall be the number of days of the annual meeting and conference(s) plus reasonable travelling time actually required. They may be required to substantiate claims. (d) Leave of absence without pay shall be granted to employees for attendance at meetings of which the prime function it is to carry out the duties required by the legislation governing registered nurses and registered psychiatric nurses. (e) Leave of absence without loss of basic pay shall be granted for attendance at professional meetings established by Ministry or at Employer direction. (f) Employees who are elected to the board of their professional association/college will be granted time off without pay including reasonable travel time to attend regular or special meetings of their board. (g) Leave of absence without pay shall be granted for attendance at other professional meetings not exceeding one week. (h) Consideration of leaves requested under Clause 20.02 [(b) to (e) and (g)] shall be determined by operational requirements and the Employer receiving advance notice of not less than 96 hours.

  • Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.

  • Association Leaves 1. The Board will provide the Association President or their designee with forty (40) days of paid release time during the course of the school year in order to conduct Association Business. The Association shall reimburse the Board for the cost of any substitute required as the result of any such released time which exceeds forty (40) days during the course of the school year. 2. The following provisions were not bargained and have been included for informational purposes only: a. Because of the many responsibilities imposed on the President of the Association, and in order to enhance the quality of instruction in the classes taught by him or her and maintain continuity, the Board will provide the building to which the President is assigned with a full-time aide who is also a certified substitute teacher. b. The building principal and the President will work out a mutually agreed upon schedule for the use of the aide. c. The presence of this aide will not be used to justify absences in excess of those authorized by the terms of this Agreement.

  • Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • Association Leave The Association shall be allowed to use up to 5 days of leave each school year for use by teachers who are officers or agents of the Association. The Association shall reimburse Unified School District 434 for the loss of use of the teacher taking such leave by paying the daily cost of a substitute teacher. The Association shall notify the Superintendent not less than 5 calendar days in advance of using such leave.

  • Education Leave If required by the Hospital, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. Subject to operational requirements, the Hospital will make every reasonable effort to grant requests for necessary changes to an employee's schedule to enable attendance at a recognized up-grading course or seminar related to employment with the Hospital."

  • Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.

  • Religious Leave Religious leave shall be without pay unless the employee elects to use accumulated compensatory time off, vacation time, or floating holiday time. Denial of religious leave is appealable as provided elsewhere in this section.
