Leaves for Union Activities. (a) Employees elected or appointed as salaried representatives of a Union shall be granted leave of absence without pay while so engaged, provided written request is made by the Union.

SECTION A: Eligibility Officers of the Union and Union members who are listed as official delegates or participants in the formal program of a function or convention, and Union officers or members who are authorized to represent the Union at Union programs, conventions, and legislative meetings (pursuant to Chapter 174, Laws of Washington, Extraordinary Session 1969, amending Chapter 41.56 RCW) may be granted leave to attend the meetings and conferences subject to the procedure set forth in Section B below.

Xxxx appointed delegates shall be granted leave ofabsence without pay to attend conventions, seminars and schools of the Union. Any leave under this clause shall not exceed three (3) employees at any one time nor more than one (1) employee from any one (I) position except for the position of Physician's Assistant which shall be allowed two (2) delegates. The Union will reimburse the Employer for all pay and benefits incurred during the leave.

Any leave under this clause shall not exceed one (1) employee per work site for a maximum of eighteen (18) working days per year. Requests for such leave shall be sent to the employee's supervisor/manager or their designates. Employees who are on leave for mediation and arbitration, conventions, seminars and schools, shall be paid their regular wages and benefits. The Employer shall give consideration of requests for up to two additional days off, in view of staffing and scheduling obligations. The Employer shall be reimbursed by the Union for the such costs.

The District agrees to grant the necessary time off, without discrimination or loss of seniority rights and without pay, to any employee(s) designated by the Union to attend a labor convention or to serve in any capacity on other official Union business, provided forty-eight (48) hours written notice is given to the District by the Union, specifying the length of time necessary. The Union agrees that in making its request for time off for Union activities, due consideration shall be given to the number of employees affected in order that there shall be no disruption of the District’s operation due to a lack of available employees.
Leaves for Union Activities. The Employer agrees to grant reasonable leaves of absence to employees selected by the Union to perform work for the Union. This may also include conventions, training seminars, conferences, etc. These leaves will be unpaid, however, the employee may at their option use any accrued personal time, holiday time or vacation time, for the purpose of keeping the employee whole regarding pay. Employees granted such leave shall retain and accrue seniority during such leave. Union Stewards working the evening shift when xxxxxxx meetings are held will work with their supervisor so that the can attend the meeting(s). This can be accomplished by either scheduling the day as an off day for the Xxxxxxx or, if this is not feasible the xxxxxxx will be given release time to attend the meeting(s) as long as a two (2) week notice has been given. If notice of less than (2) weeks is given, the supervisor will do their best to accommodate the request. Time missed from work to attend a Xxxxxxx meeting(s) may be made up the same day by starting earlier or staying later in their shift if feasible, and is approved by the supervisor. If this is not feasible, the Xxxxxxx may take the time off and will have the option of using earned benefit time or take the time off without pay. The Xxxxxxx will not be penalized regarding the Absence Monitoring Program for the time spent away from the job to attend such meeting(s).
