MEALS ON OVERTIME. 27.1 If an employee is notified during the time he is working that he will be required to continue working more than two (2) hours past his normal quitting time that day, the Employer will provide a free meal to the employee after approximately two (2) hours of overtime worked and for each four (4) hours of overtime worked thereafter. The employee will be allowed thirty (30) minutes paid at straight time rate to eat each meal at the time directed by the Employer. When a paid meal period overlaps a rest period the paid meal period will supplant the rest period. When a free meal is not provided, the Employer will pay the employee one-half (1/2) hour at his appropriate rate. To qualify for the above-noted on a Friday, an employee working a forty (40) hour week will be required to work for more than four (4) hours beyond the normal quitting time of his shift. This Article is not applicable to the first eight (8) hours worked on Saturdays, Sundays or Recognized Holidays.
