Medication Services. 4.1. All required over the counter (OTC) and prescription medications shall be supplied by the CONTRACTOR. As instructed by CONTRACTOR staff psychiatrist or designated medical provider, CONTRACTOR shall supervise clients as they take their medications to assure that the Client’s physician’s orders are being followed. CONTRACTOR shall document the administration of medication, the client’s response to the medication, and any adverse side effects experienced by the client. Phone calls from physicians regarding prescriptions or orders shall only be received by licensed personnel and shall be logged on the client’s chart. The client’s chart shall be signed by both the CONTRACTOR licensed staff who took the information, and the CONTRACTOR’s staff psychiatrist, within seven (7) days from the time the telephone orders were received. 4.2. CONTRACTOR shall ensure that medication prescriptions are submitted to the guarantor’s designated pharmacy. CONTRACTOR may use telemedicine as an option in providing medication support services. CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for providing and maintaining all equipment and resources necessary to utilize telemedicine as an option for treatment. 4.3. All medication shall be securely locked in a designated storage area. All Schedule II-V medications shall be securely stored under a double lock to prevent any unauthorized personnel from accessing them. These medications shall be counted at the end of each shift, the count shall be logged, and the log signed by at least two (2) staff. CONTRACTOR shall develop and adhere to strict policies and procedures for storage and access to medications.
