Employees who are absent on sick leave for a 2 period in excess of their accrued sick leave shall be allowed to use their accrued 3 vacation, saved holiday, and/or compensatory time to cover such time off. At the option 4 of the employee, the employee may retain up to forty (40) hours of vacation time prior 5 to being placed on leave without pay. Leaves without pay shall be subject to the 6 approval of management.
