Paid Authorized Absences. Paid authorized absences may be approved by the Executive Director or their designee for attendance at workshops, meetings, conferences and other educational/training programs which would directly enhance the employee’s work performance and contribution to NWIRP. An employee will submit their request for such absence to their direct supervisor in advance of such proposed absence. The supervisor will submit a recommendation to the Executive Director or their designee who will have final authority to approve the request. An employee attending an out-of-town workshop or conference will be deemed to work a regular seven (7) hour workday. Time spent socializing, eating, and sleeping is not considered work time.
