Notification of Absence. A unit member shall contact the office of the division xxxx whenever there is a need to be absent and at least thirty (30) minutes prior to missing any work assignment. Should circumstances prohibit this notification, the unit member shall notify the division office in writing within one week of returning to work, providing the reasons why the advance notification was not given.

Notification of Absence. A substitute and absence management system will be provided for unit members to notify the District of an absence. Any time a unit member is absent and a substitute is necessary, the District shall make every effort possible to provide a substitute. The Director of Human Resources or designee shall be designated as the district office employee to deal with unit members’ complaints or problems related to the hiring of substitutes. Notification of Absence. An employee who is absent for any reason must notify the person responsible in the postal installation prior to the absence. The replacement must report to the person responsible in the postal installation. This person will confirm in writing on the voucher provided that the work will be performed by the replacement for the length of the absence.

(c) Should an employee fail to comply with clause 4.05 (a), his/her absence may be considered as unauthorized leave without pay unless s/he can demonstrate legitimate reasons for the non-compliance.
