Paid Education Leave The Company agrees to pay into a special fund, one (1¢) cent per hour per employee for all compensated hours for the purpose of providing paid education leave. Such leave will be for upgrading the employee skills in all aspects of trade union functions. Such monies to be paid on a quarterly basis into a trust fund established by the National Union, CAW, effective from date of ratification and sent by the Company to the following address: CAW Paid Education Leave Program, 000 Xxxxxx Xxxxx, Xxxxx Xxxx, Xxxxxxx X0X 0X0.
Employment Relations Education Leave Employment Relations Education Leave will be allowed in accordance with the Employment Relations Act.
Education Leave If required by the Hospital, an employee shall be entitled to leave of absence with pay and without loss of seniority and benefits to write examinations to upgrade his or her employment qualifications. Where employees are required by the Hospital to take courses to upgrade or acquire new employment qualifications, the Hospital shall pay the full costs associated with the courses. Subject to operational requirements, the Hospital will make every reasonable effort to grant requests for necessary changes to an employee's schedule to enable attendance at a recognized up-grading course or seminar related to employment with the Hospital."
Blood Donation Leave Leave shall be granted to employees to donate blood at an onsite and Appointing Authority endorsed program.
Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave An Employee who is expecting the birth or adoption of a child shall be entitled to maternity/paternity/adoption leave without pay, provided she presents a medical certificate confirming the probable date of confinement, or in the case of adoption, gives the Employer notice of eligibility. Except in extenuating circumstances, the notice shall be submitted in writing at least twenty-eight (28) days in advance of the leave and shall specify the probable date of commencement and the anticipated length of leave. The following conditions shall apply: (a) Leave of Absence for maternity/paternity/adoption shall be for up to eighteen (18) months as requested by the Employee, except in extenuating circumstances when, in the opinion of a medical practitioner, the leave should be further extended. (b) Upon return from such leave, the Employee will resume employment at the same worksite, in the same or in a comparable position prior to the granting of such leave. In the event the Employee on Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Leave is affected by lay off, she shall be afforded access to the provisions of Article 26, Layoff And Work Resumption. (c) Notice of intention to return to work or request for a change of the length of the leave of absence, must be forwarded to the Employer twenty-eight (28) days prior to the expiration of the leave. The Employee shall be entitled to one (1) extension of said leave. However, the entire length of such leave of absence shall not exceed eighteen (18) months. (d) An Employee shall have access to sick leave credits as per Article 12.07. (e) Accrual of seniority when on such leave is calculated as follows: (i) For full-time Employees, seniority shall accrue as if they were working. (ii) For other than full-time Employees who have worked for one (1) year or more: 52 Week of Leave (iii) For other than full-time Employees who have worked for less than one (1) year: (f) Supplemental Employment Insurance Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) The Employer will implement a Supplemental Employment Benefits Plan. Employees will receive the Supplementary Employment Benefits if they meet eligibility requirements. Maternity/Paternity/Adoption Supplemental Employment Benefit (SEB) shall apply to all Employees.
Professional and Education Leaves (a) Leave of absence with pay or without pay may be granted to employees to attend professional and educational meetings, courses, or other events which may be judged beneficial to the employee's professional development, especially as it relates to her responsibilities with the Employer.
Compensation/Benefit Programs During the Term of Employment, the Executive shall be entitled to participate in all medical, dental, hospitalization, accidental death and dismemberment, disability, travel and life insurance plans, and any and all other plans as are presently and hereinafter offered by the Company to its executive personnel, including savings, pension, profit-sharing and deferred compensation plans, subject to the general eligibility and participation provisions set forth in such plans.
CHECK-OFF OF UNION DUES 22.01 The Company shall deduct on the payroll for the last applicable pay period of each month from wages due and owing to each Employee under this Agreement such sum as may be uniformly assessed under the Union Constitution for monthly dues and initiation fees. 22.02 The amount to be deducted shall not be changed except to conform with a change in the Union's Constitution. 22.03 Membership in the Union shall be available to any Employee eligible under the Constitution of the Union on payment of the initiation or reinstatement fees uniformly required of all other such applicants. Membership shall not be denied for reasons of race, national origin, colour or religion. 22.04 Deductions shall commence on the payroll for the last applicable pay period of the first full calendar month of service. 22.05 If the wages of an Employee payable on the payroll for the last applicable pay period of any month are insufficient to permit the deduction of the full amount of dues, no such deduction shall be made from the wages of such Employee by the Company in such month. The Company shall not, because the Employee did not have sufficient wages payable to him on the designated payroll, carry forward and deduct from any subsequent wages the dues not deducted in an earlier month. 22.06 Only payroll deductions now or hereafter required by law, deductions of monies due or owing the Company, pension deductions and deduction for provident funds shall be made from wages prior to the deduction of dues. 22.07 The amount of dues so deducted from wages accompanied by a statement of monthly dues check-off list including additions, deductions, employee's name and number and location shall be remitted by the Company to the Union. 22.08 The Company shall not be responsible financially or otherwise, either to the Union or to any Employee, for any failure to make deductions or for making improper or inaccurate deductions or remittances; however, in any instance in which an error occurs in the amount of any deduction of dues from an Employee's wages, the Company shall adjust it directly with the Employee. In the event of any mistake by the Company in the amount of its remittance to the Union, the Company shall adjust the amount in a subsequent remittance. The Company's liability for any and all amounts deducted pursuant to the provisions of this Article shall terminate at the time it remits the amounts payable to the Union. 22.09 In the event of any action at law against the parties hereto resulting from any deduction or deductions made from payrolls, or to be made by the Company pursuant to the first paragraph of this Article, both parties shall cooperate fully in the defence of such action. Each party shall bear its own cost of such defence except that if, at the request of the Union, counsel fees are incurred these shall be borne by the Union. Save as aforesaid, the Union shall indemnify and save harmless the Company from any losses, damages, costs, liabilities or expenses suffered or sustained by the Company as a result of any such deduction or deductions from payrolls.
Reemployment List A list of persons who have occupied positions allocated to any class in the merit system and who have voluntarily separated and are qualified for consideration for reappointment under the Personnel Management Regulations governing reemployment.
Federation Leave A leave of absence for the president and a second position of the Federation shall be granted to any employee covered by this Agreement upon application by the Federation for the purpose of the employee serving as an officer of the Federation. The District shall continue to pay such employee(s) and provide benefits, with the exception of leave benefits, but will be reimbursed by the Federation for the cost of salary and fringe benefits. Upon return from such leaves, an employee shall proceed on the salary schedule as if s/he had been employed with the District each year of the leave. The Federation agrees to consider carefully each request for release time for Federation members. Although leaves for short terms without loss of pay may be granted upon approval by the Office of the Superintendent, the Federation shall reimburse the District for the cost of salaries and fringe benefits.
