UNION SECURITY & CHECK-OFF. 7.01 Effective the first (1st) of the month following the signing of this Agreement, the Employer will, as a condition of employment, deduct an amount equal to the amount of Union dues from the pay of all employees in the Bargaining Unit. All employees covered by this Agreement shall, as a condition of employment, become and remain members of the Union in good standing.‌ 7.02 The Union shall inform the Employer in writing of the percentage to be checked off for each employee. The amounts deducted in accordance with clause 7.01 shall be remitted to the Comptroller of the Alliance by cheque monthly and shall be accompanied by particulars identifying each employee and the deductions made on her behalf. 7.03 For the purpose of applying clause 7.01, deductions from earnings for each employee in respect of each calendar month will start with the first full calendar month of employment to the extent that earnings are available. Where an employee does not have sufficient earnings in respect of any bi-weekly period to permit deduction, the Employer shall not be obligated to make such deductions from subsequent salary. 7.04 The Union agrees to indemnify and save the Employer harmless against any claim or liability arising out of the application of this Article, except for any claim or liability arising out of an error committed by the Employer which shall be limited to the amount actually involved in the error. If such an error is made: (a) Where the error results in the employee being in arrears for dues deductions, recovery is to be made by deducting one (1) additional deduction each month in an amount not to exceed the established monthly deduction until the arrears are recovered in full; or (b) Where the error results in an over deduction and the monies have not been remitted to the Union, the Employer shall reimburse the employee. 7.05 The Employer shall ensure that T4s issued to employees in the bargaining unit show the amount deducted for union dues and remitted to the Union.

UNION SECURITY & CHECK-OFF. 6.01 The Corporation shall deduct from each pay from the wages of employees in the bargaining unit as designated in Article 2 - Recognition, dues in accordance with the Constitution and By-Laws of the Canadian Union of Public Employees. The Union shall advise the Corporation, in writing, of the amount of said dues. 6.02 Following adequate notice, in writing by the Union, the Corporation agrees to deduct assessments and LTD premiums levied by the Union from its members, from the same pay as dues are deducted. 6.03 All sums deducted, together with a record of those from whom deductions have been made, and the amount shall be forwarded to the Treasurer of Local Union #831, not later than biweekly following such deduction. 6.04 The Union shall indemnify and save the Corporation harmless with respect to all amounts deducted and remitted under this Article.
UNION SECURITY & CHECK-OFF. Outside employees and students, as defined in as a condition of employment, become members of the Union on hiring and retain membership for the duration of recognition by the Employer of the Union as sole bargaining agent for Outside employees. Students may be employed either for the summer vacation period extending from April to September each year, or on work terms of a co- operative training program with a university or college. The only provisions of the Agreement applicable to students are:

Upon receipt of a written authorization from an employee covered by this agreement, the Employer shall deduct from the employee's pay the amount owed to the Union by such employee for dues. The Employer will remit such sums to the Union within thirty (30) calendar days. Changes in the Union membership dues rate will be certified to the Employer in writing over the signature of the authorized officer or officers of the Union and shall be done at least annually with thirty (30) calendar days in advance of such change. Section 2. The Employer will provide the Association with a list of newly hired and terminated employees at least monthly. The list may include mutually agreed upon pertinent member information and will be sent to the Union. Section 3. The Union will indemnify and hold the Employer harmless against any claim made and against any suit instituted against the Employer, on account of any provision of this Article.
UNION SECURITY & CHECK-OFF. 6.1 No Employee shall be required to join the Union as a condition of employment or as a condition to remain in the employ of the Employer. 6.2 All Employees who are members of the bargaining unit, whether or not they wish to be a member of the Union, will have to pay Union dues as levied by the Union. 6.3 The Union Head Office shall advise the Employer in writing of any changes in the aforesaid deductions before changes are implemented. 6.4 The Employer shall deduct from the pay of each Employee covered by this Agreement, all Union dues. Deductions shall be made at source from each pay period and shall be forwarded to the Treasurer of the Union not later than the (15th) day of the next calendar month, accompanied by an itemized list of applicable Employee names. 6.5 The Employer shall provide the following bargaining unit data to the Union in January each year: Employee name, department, position title, classification level (if applicable), employment status (e.g. Leave of absence start/end dates), and dates of hire.

The only provisions of the Agreement applicable to students are: Union Representation Grievance Procedure Recognized Public Holidays Bereavement Students required to wear safety footwear, shall be allowed up to of the safety footwear allowance in Article per contract year to obtain and maintain safety footwear. Footwear shall be approved by immediate Supervisor. The Employer hereby agrees that for all the employees of the Outside Bargaining Unit, they will deduct their Union dues or the equivalent thereof in accordance with the constitution of the Local Union and will remit such sums of monies to the Treasurer of the Local every pay day, along with a duplicate list showing the names from whom the deductions are made. The Employer will supply the Union with a list of current Outside Bargaining Unit employees’ names and addresses and telephone numbers (unless an employee advises otherwise) on a computer disk using compatible software annually. The Employer shall supply to each employee receipts on the income tax slips in the amount of the Union dues paid by each Union member in the previous year. All Outside Bargaining Unit employees shall be paid by direct deposit according to earnings. The rate of pay to which each employee covered by the terms of this Agreement shall be entitled is in accordance with classification and the wage rate set out in Schedule On each pay day, each employee shall be provided with an itemized statement of wages and deductions including but not limited to vacation, sick and lieu time hours. Employees shall upon giving at least fifteen (15) working days notice, receive on the last day preceding commencement of their annual vacation, pay which would normally be paid during the period of their vacation. UNION SECURITY & CHECK-OFF. 28.01 The Company may employ additional employees when necessary for the job classifications as specified, but will require as a condition of employment that such employees shall become and remain a member in the Union beginning with the thirtieth (30th) day following the day following the date of employment or the effective date of this Agreement, whichever is later.

UNION SECURITY & CHECK-OFF. To the extent permitted by State law, the following will apply: 1. The Union agrees that it will from time to time promptly accept as members therein any and all persons who are not members of the Union and whom the Company employs to perform for the Company the different classifications of work covered by this Agreement. The Company shall do its own hiring and employees of the Company covered by this collective bargaining agreement who, at the date hereof, are members of the Union, shall remain members in good standing during the life of this Agreement. Employees covered by this collective bargaining agreement now employed but not now members of the Union shall, on the thirtieth day following the effective or execution date of this Agreement, whichever is the later, become members and remain members in good standing for the life of the Agreement. Employees covered by this collective bargaining agreement hereafter employed shall, within thirty-one (31) days after the date of their employment, become members and remain members in good standing during the life of the Agreement. Employees who fail to comply with the foregoing provision will, upon written notice by the Union to the Company, be placed upon five (5) calendar-day notice and, at the end of such notice period, having failed to comply with the provision, will be removed from the active service of the Company. Having been so removed the employee will have no re- employment or seniority rights with the Company or any other right or benefit of any sort whatsoever. 2. The Company will check off monthly dues, assessments∗ and initiation fees each as designated by the International Treasurer of the Union, as membership dues in the Union, on the basis of individually signed voluntary checkoff authorization cards in forms agreed to by the Company and the Union. Any employee, hired into, transferred into or organized into this bargaining unit will receive a "packet" supplied by the Local Union and issued by the Company at the time said employee comes into the jurisdiction of this bargaining unit. The Company will not be responsible for maintaining a supply of packets or assume any penalty in connection with this provision.

The Union shall notify the Corporation in writing of the amount of such dues. The Corporation agrees to deduct the above dues from the employee’s pay. 4.02 Following adequate notice, in writing by the Union, the Corporation agrees to deduct assessments and LTD Premiums levied by the Union from its members, from the same pay as dues are deducted. 4.03 All sums deducted, together with a record of those from whom deductions have been made, and the amount shall be forwarded to the Financial Secretary of Local Union 831, not later than biweekly following such deduction. 4.04 The Union shall indemnify and save the Corporation harmless with respect to all amounts deducted and remitted under this Article.
UNION SECURITY & CHECK-OFF. ‌ (a) As a condition of employment, all employees shall become members of the Union and the Corporation shall deduct union dues, fees and assessments as specified by the union from each member of the bargaining unit. Such individuals shall remain members of the union in good standing as long as they are employed by the Corporation. (b) The remittances of union dues, fees and assessments or amounts equivalent thereto which were deducted by the Corporation from the wages of employees will be accompanied by lists showing the names of those employees from whose wages such deductions have been made and the names of employees from whose wages no such deductions were made and the reason why no such deductions were made. (c) The Union agrees to save the Employer harmless and to indemnify the Employer with respect to any claim made against the employer by any employee or any group of employees arising out of the deduction of Union dues as herein provided. (d) The Union agrees that neither it, nor its officers, agents, representatives and members will engage in Union activities on employer time or Employer property except as expressly authorized by this Agreement. Upon notice to the Employer, a representative of the Union may visit the Employer premises for the purpose of participating in the settlement of a grievance. (e) The Union acknowledges that the Unit Representatives have their regular duties to perform on behalf of the Employer and that such persons shall not leave their regular duties without having first secured permission from their immediate supervisor, which permission shall not be unreasonably
