Paid Sick Leave. 14.8.1 Paid sick leave is the authorized absence of an employee because of illness, injury, medical or dental appointment, or as expressly guaranteed within this article. Employees shall earn sick leave at the rate of one (day) per month of full-time service. For employees who work a full academic year (approx. 180 days), those employees will be entitled to 10 sick days (pro-rated for part-time workers as per Article 14.8.2 below). 14.8.2 In order to qualify for sick leave credit, an employee must work at least sixteen (16) days in a calendar month. Upon notification to the Personnel Department, CSEA will distribute the request to the CSEA members. 14.8.4.3 An employee may donate one (1) day of sick leave per request. Donation of sick leave shall not exceed a total of one hundred twenty (120) days including accumulated sick leave. Paid Sick Leave. 14.8.1 Paid Employees covered by this Agreement shall earn and be granted sick leave is of absence with pay under the authorized absence following conditions and qualifica- tions: (a) Ten (10) days paid sick leave will be credited at the beginning of an each school year. (c) An employee shall earn notify their immediate Supervisor or designee of the need to utilize paid sick leave a minimum of two (2) hours prior to the employee’s regular starting time unless an emergency exists that would require less than two (2) hours notice. The Employer may require as a condition of any paid sick leave a physician's certificate setting forth the reasons for the sick leave. Falsification of the physician's certificate or falsely setting forth the reasons for the absence shall subject the employee to discipline, up to and including discharge. (d) Unused paid sick leave days may accumulate up to a maximum of ninety days, after which time no more paid sick days will be accumulated except to the extent of restoring paid sick days used. Employees whose employment status with the District ends after the completion of at least five (5) years of employment at Walkerville Public Schools will be paid 90 days of their accumulated but unused sick leave at the rate of one thirty dollars (day$30.00) per month of full-time serviceday. (1) Sick leave benefits may not be taken in units of less than one-half (½) day. (1) An employee may utilize his sick leave shall not exceed a total allowance pursuant to the Department’s established procedures when he is incapacitated for the safe performance of one hundred twenty his duties due to illness or injury. (1202) Employee may utilize up to three (3) days per year for immediate family residing in the employee’s household and the employee’s parents. D. G. Falsification of the medical certificate or falsely setting forth the reasons for the absence shall constitute just cause for discipline, up to and including dismissal. H. Sick leave is a benefit for employees to be used in cases of illness. I. Sick leave is not a benefit to be converted to wages, except as provided in this subsection (I) Section 21.8 or as provided in Section 18.3. (1) Upon termination of an employee, except discharge for just cause or termination during the employee’s probationary period, accumulated sick leave. Only one request leave credits shall be paid to the employee or, if deceased, to his estate at fifty percent (50%) of allowed accrual. (2) Discharge for donation just cause or termination during an employee’s probationary period shall result in forfeiture of all accumulated credits. J. Paid Sick Leave. 14.8.1 Paid sick leave is the authorized absence 19.01 On January 1st of an employee because of illnesseach calendar year, injury, medical or dental appointment, or as expressly guaranteed within this article. Employees shall earn sick leave at the rate of one (day) per month of a regular full-time service. In case of work-incapacitating injury or illness for which an employee is eligible for work disability payments under the Workers' Compensation Law of the State of Michigan, accrued sick leave may be utilized to maintain the difference between the compensation payment and the employee's net regular salary or wage. If accrued sick leave is utilized for this purpose, the provisions of subsection (F) shall not apply. Upon exhaustion of his/her is sick leave bank, the employee shall draw only those benefits as are allowable under the Workers' Compensation Law of the State of Michigan, if any. I.
