Personal Business Hours. 1. Two (2) days of paid Personal Business time per academic year will be granted annually to all full-time faculty members except for Student Success Specialists and Academic Success Specialists who receive personal business time as explained in subsection 5 below. Any Personal Business hours unused at the end of the academic year will be transferred to the employee’s Sick & Emergency bank. Faculty members hired to teach less than full-time but more than three-fifths (3/5) time will be granted one (1) day of paid Personal Business time. Substitute or Part-time Status employees will not be eligible for any paid Personal Business time. 2. It is agreed that paid Personal Business time is provided for legitimate business, professional, and family obligations of a faculty member which cannot be met outside of his/her regular scheduled teaching assignment. Typical of these obligations, although not all-inclusive are: court appearances, scheduled medical examinations, dental appointments, religious holidays, college graduation exercises, honors convocations honoring the faculty member or members of his/her immediate family, and real estate transactions. 3. With the exception of extenuating circumstances, Personal Business time may not be used on the following days: a. Report back/Kick-off days in Fall and Winter semesters (full-time faculty only) b. The first day of classes c. The day before Thanksgiving d. The final week of each semester 4. Requests for paid personal time will, except in emergencies, be made to the immediate supervisor at least three (3) working days prior to the date of such leave on a Departmental Approval and Data Entry form, which is available in the HR section of the website. 5. If the request for personal time is consistent with the purposes of this Section, it will automatically be granted. Faculty members taking paid personal time for reasons other than specifically set forth herein, and not within the spirit of this Article, will be subject to discipline. 6. Personal Business for Student Success Specialists and Academic Success Specialists. Personal business hours shall be credited to each employee as follows: a. Full-time employees shall be credited with forty (40) hours (five (5) days) at the beginning of each academic year. b. Personal Business Hours. Non-probationary employees with accumulated sick leave shall be entitled to use some of that leave as personal business hours. Twenty-four (24) personal business hours shall be permitted annually, to be used in minimum increments of four (4) hours. An employee shall request use of personal business hours at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance from the Chief or Lieutenant.

  • Normal Business Hours Those hours during which most similar businesses in the community are open to serve customers. In all cases, “normal business hours” must include some evening hours at least one night per week and/or some weekend hours.

(10) A desire to be with a person who is ill and which is not covered under the sick leave policy. The above is not an exhaustive list and items may be added during the school year by the consent of both parties. C. When there is a request for personal business day or days as indicated in Article XII, 7.B, the administrator may charge a portion of the personal business against sick leave with the remaining portion being assumed by the applicant with loss of pay. D. Personal business days cannot be used for time immediately before or after an established holiday for additional vacation. E. The administrator may, in unusual circumstances, grant personal business time to a person when the applicant's request is not specifically covered by the listing. The administrator, using his best judgment will take into consideration such items as length of service, attendance, involvement in school's activities and other factors which are pertinent to the case. F. Personal business days shall be requested at least one week in advance, except in cases of emergency. Approval must be received before the employee takes the time off. G. Requests shall be made through the Department of Maintenance and Custodial Operations.

  • Service outside business hours However, if under Clause 28.3 a notice would be deemed to be served: (a) on a day which is not a business day in the place of receipt; or (b) on such a business day, but after 5 p.m. local time, the notice shall (subject to Clause 28.5) be deemed to be served, and shall take effect, at 9 a.m. on the next day which is such a business day.

  • Personal Business Leave Unit members shall receive a total of three (3) work days per year with no loss in salary that may be used for personal business. Unit members employed on or after February 1 shall receive one (1) work day of personal business leave. On July 1 of each year any personal business days in excess of five (5) will be converted to sick leave days. If, however, an unforeseen circumstance requires the member’s absence which could not be approved three days in advance, the reason for the absence shall be stated and the principal or department head may, at his/her discretion, approve the absence as a day of personal business leave. Personal business leave may be denied when, in the judgment of the principal or supervisor, the member’s absence would impair the educational process. Personal business leave shall not be taken immediately before or immediately after a holiday or weekday when school is closed on the master calendar, or on an in-service day for teachers, or at the beginning (first five scheduled work days) or the end of the school year (last five scheduled work days). If, however, a circumstance requires the member’s absence on one or more of the foregoing days, the member may request use of personal business leave through the principal. The principal or supervisor may, at his/her discretion, approve the absence as a day of personal business leave. In normal circumstances a member shall not use more than three (3) consecutive personal business days at one time. Exceptions to the foregoing restrictions on days to be used for personal business leave may be made by the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources for circumstances which require the member’s absence on these days.
