Paid Personal Time. All full-time non-probationary employees covered by this Agreement shall be credited with eighty (80) hours of paid personal time on January 1 of each year. Probationary employees will not be eligible for paid personal time benefits until they have completed six (6) months of service. Upon completion of six (6) months of service an employee will be credited with a pro- rata amount of paid personal time equal to eighty (80) hours times his or her months of employment prior to January 1, divided by twelve (12). Employees whose first six (6) months of employment overlap January 1 of any year will be credited with eighty (80) hours of personal time after completion of six (6) months of service. Personal time shall be available for use by employees in the Bargaining unit for the following purposes, as well as general personal use: a. Acute personal illness or incapacity over which the employee has no reasonable control. b. Absence from work because of exposure to contagious disease which, according to public health standards, would constitute a danger to the health of others by the employee’s attendance at work. c. Paid personal time for medical or dental extractions or treatment shall be taken in not less than one-half (1/2) day increments. Paid personal time will be authorized for the beginning of a shift or the end of a shift in no less than four (4) hours at a time with 72 hours’ notice, as long as granting the request does not result in the Employer paying overtime, in which case the request will be denied. Paid personal time will not be granted for the middle of a shift. In the event that a paid persona time request for a partial shift is denied because it will result in overtime the employee will continue to have the option of taking paid personal time for the entire shift, with 72 hours’ notice. d. Paid personal time will be authorized when an employee is taken ill on the job. e. In the first full pay period in January of each year, an employee will be paid for all unused paid personal time for the prior year at his or her regular rate as of December 31 with a maximum payout of seventy-five (75) hours at one hundred percent (100%). Except for those specific types of paid leave set forth in the preceding Article XV, all paid time off for any other purpose, including but not limited to time off for holidays, vacation, other emergency, and other personal reasons, shall be in accordance with the provisions of this Article XVI.

Paid Personal Time. Employees initially are accorded sixty-four (64) hours of paid personal time after completion of 520 hours of straight-time employment and thereafter on the occurrence of their current benefit date during each calendar year. The intended use of such time is for legitimate purposes as medical (doctor, dentist and short- term illness), business, legal, or other personal matters. Approval must be obtained from the department prior to utilizing personal time on the standard Request for Time Off Form, except in emergency situations. In cases where multiple requests for personal time are received from employees, which cannot be granted due to efficiency of operations and/or staffing requirements, the department will honor said requests on a first-come, first-served basis; unless said requests are received on the same date, in which case seniority shall prevail. If not utilized, personal time will accumulate indefinitely and have no monetary value upon separation from employment with Genesee County for whatever reason. The Employer reserves the right to require that employees absent from work furnish satisfactory proof that said absence from work was occasioned by reasonable cause in those cases where the Employer has cause to believe that employees are abusing time off from work provisions. No further explanations other than "medical," "business," "legal," or "other personal matters" shall be required when the request for personal days time is submitted for prior approval, unless abuse is suspected. Nothing in the above provisions shall abrogate the employee's responsibility to comply with departmental procedures concerning prior notification of absence from work.
Paid Personal Time. A) Regular full-time employees receive six (6) paid personal time days for each payroll calendar year (from the start of the first full pay period of each calendar year and ending twenty-six (26) pay periods later); B) All regular full-time employees hired after July 1st of each year will receive three (3) paid personal time days for that year; C) Regular part-time employees will receive three (3) paid personal time days for each payroll calendar year or one (1) paid personal time day if hired after July 1st in that year; D) Paid personal time days may be used in increments of no less than 15 (fifteen) minutes (1/4 hour). E) Employees may carry over unused paid personal time days to a maximum bank of ten (10) paid personal time days. This bank may be used for future paid personal time purposes. Unused paid personal time bank hours will not be paid out. F) Paid personal time shall be used at the employee’s option. At no time will an employee be required to use her paid personal time prior to using any other form of leave i.e.) vacation, unpaid leave of absence.
Paid Personal Time. A. Unit employees who have completed the requisite years of service in the School District, as set forth below, by June 30 of any fiscal year, shall be entitled to paid personal time commencing the next year, as follows: 5 Years 60 hours 8 Years 70 hours 12 Years 78 hours The foregoing entitlements are non-cumulative. B. If an absence can be anticipated, employees are expected to provide their supervisor with at least 48 hours’ notice. C. If an absence could not have been anticipated, employees are expected to notify their supervisor at least two hours prior to the beginning of their workday, whenever possible. D. If at the end of the school year, an employee has not used all personal hours, payment will be made for any remaining hours in the last paycheck of the school year. E. For employees whose two-year anniversary falls within a school year the accumulation of personal time shall be pro-rated at two hours per month. F. Absence, death in the family: (1) Up to five working days may be granted in each case of death in the immediate family and shall not be deducted from Paid Personal Time. “Immediate family” includes: husband, wife, domestic partner, son, daughter, xxxx-xxxxx, grandchild, mother, father, grandparent, brother, sister, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in- law, daughter-in-law, and other relative living in the employee’s immediate household. Additional days may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent based on evidence of pressing need. For purposes of this section, the definition of “Domestic Partner” shall be consistent with the definition of “Domestic Partner” that is set forth by the District’s designated Health Plan.
Paid Personal Time. During the term of this Agreement, each full-time employee shall earn 6.14 hours of paid personal time per full fourteen (14) day scheduled work period during which the employee receives regular pay for at least forty (40) hours (including hours actually worked, paid vacation and paid personal time). This benefit is intended to equal 160 hours of paid personal time per full calendar year (26.07 bi-weekly pay periods) of satisfying the 40 hour requirement. Employees entering the bargaining unit from the non-supervisory unit will be credited with paid personal time equivalent to the employee’s earned and unused paid personal time and holidays at the time they leave the other bargaining unit. During the term of this Agreement, an employee may carry over up to one hundred twenty (120) hours from one anniversary year to the next, but may have higher accumulations between anniversary dates. There shall be no pay-out for unused paid personal time, except that prior to the first full payroll period of December each year, employees may elect to be paid for up to eighty (80) hours of earned but unused and unscheduled paid personal time during the second payroll period of December. The paid personal time benefit shall not be used for more than one (1) week in succession. Any request to use paid personal time must be made to the employee's immediate supervisor at least twenty-four (24) hours in advance of the date requested unless an illness or emergency exists which prevents giving the required notice. Requests for use of paid personal time may be denied if the absence of the employee would unreasonably interfere with the services to be performed by the Employer. Nothing in this Section shall be construed to relieve an employee of the responsibility to comply with the Employer's required procedures concerning prior notification of absence from work. This benefit shall not be used in lieu of or in addition to sickness and accident benefits or workers' compensation benefits, although it may be used during the elimination period prior to the receipt of such benefits. Paid personal time shall be paid at the employee's regular straight-time hourly rate, exclusive of premiums, in effect at the time that the paid personal time is used. It is the parties' intention that this benefit be used in lieu of and under circumstances similar to those formerly applicable to holidays, sick leave, and personal leave.

In the first full pay period in January of each year, an employee will be paid any unused personal time at 100% up to a maximum of seventy-five (75) hours at his/her regular rate as of December 31 of such year. The provisions of this subsection shall not apply to an employee who has not completed twelve (12) months of service by January 1. f. There shall be no pyramiding of paid personal time and sickness and accident insurance benefits.
