Personal Property Protection. 1. A fund, not to exceed $12,000, shall be established for the reimbursement to employees for damage to property worn on the employee's person or in an employee's physical possession, provided such damage results from administration of emergency first aid, assault upon the employee, or from activity involved in the restoration of order, such as cases of riots, student fights, or general disorder by students while on school property or at a school-approved function. Administration of reimbursement from this fund shall be by DTU. For vehicle vandalism on school property, or if the vehicle is stolen, the fund will reimburse one-half (½) the cost of the damage not paid by the insurance company, in an amount not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00). Employees processing claims for vandalism to their automobiles must provide a statement from their insurance carriers that such vandalism is not a covered loss, and if covered, must state the amount of the deductible, if any. Personal property valued at $100 or more, which is brought to the work site for professional purposes and is damaged or stolen, will be reimbursed at one-half (½) the cost of the damage not paid by the insurance company, in an amount no to exceed $200, provided that the employee has registered the property with the administration when it is brought to the work site.
2. Any employee seeking reimbursement under the provisions of this policy must file an employee incident report according to guidelines established for this purpose. Failure to file such a report on a timely basis shall disqualify an employee from receiving reimbursement.

The district shall reimburse teachers for loss of personal property if loss occurs at school in relationship to disciplining students. A review committee consisting of a district administrator, a school administrator and an association leader shall investigate situations to determine if loss was related to discipline of students.

For vehicle vandalism on school/work location property which causes the vehicle to become immobile (i.e., stolen battery, slashed or stolen tires), or the vehicle is stolen, the fund will reimburse one-half (½) the cost of the damage not paid by the insurance company, in an amount not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00). Personal Property Protection. The Board will provide a small area within each classroom such as file cabinet or cupboard that can be locked. It is the responsibility of the employee to see that his/her personal items are placed therein and adequately secured.

When the Board of Education has determined that prudent caution has been taken by the employee to secure personal property, the Board shall reimburse the employee for the replacement cost of any clothing or other personal property (except motor vehicles) lost, stolen, damaged, or destroyed while the employee was performing his/her duties. The employee will not be required to use his/her personal vehicle to transport students.
Personal Property Protection. 17.1 Any personal item worn or used in the line of duty by an employee covered by this Agreement, which is damaged, lost, or destroyed in the performance of required duties, shall be repaired or replaced at its replacement cost, up to a maximum of two hundred dollars ($200) per contract year, except for the following: Firearms 100% A report must be forwarded to the employee's commanding officer before the end of tour of duty, stating what item(s) was/were damaged, lost or destroyed, and the circumstances causing the damage or loss.
