Placement on Unrequested Leave of Absence. Subd. 1. The School Board may place on unrequested leave of absence, without pay or fringe benefits, as many principals as may be necessary because of discontinuance of position, lack of students, financial limitations, or merger of classes by consolidation. The unrequested leave shall be effective at the close of the school year. In the event a principal or associate principal must be placed on unrequested leave of absence due to discontinuance of position, lack of students, financial limitations, or merger of classes by consolidation the provisions of M. S. 122A.40, as amended, shall apply.

The District has the sole right to determine whether there is a lack of pupils or whether the District is experiencing financial limitations.
Subd. 1. The District will afford bumping rights based on seniority and licensure before identifying the principal(s) to be placed on ULA.
Subd. 2. Nothing in this Article allows or gives a principal the right to obtain a promotion through the ULA process. A principal may not bump into a promotion, demand to be recalled to a position that would be a promotion, or otherwise assert a seniority right in a manner that would result in the principal receiving a promotion.
Subd. 3. Moving from an elementary school position to either a middle school position or a high school position would be a promotion. Moving from a middle school position to a high school position would be a promotion. Moving from an assistant principal position to a principal position would be a promotion.

b. Administrators shall be placed on unrequested leave in reverse order of their hiring on the K-12 seniority list, at their position level.
c. Administrators may not assert a seniority right into a promotional position.
d. For principals, “level” is defined as a principalship in the area of licensure or separately as an associate or assistant principalship in the area of licensure. Junior high and senior high assistant principals are at the same level, but at a lower level than associate principals and principals. Junior high and senior high associate principals are at the same level, but a lower level than junior high and senior high principals. For the elementary positions, the academic xxxx is at a lower level than the assistant principal who is at a lower level than the principal.
Placement on Unrequested Leave of Absence. Principals and Assistant Principals shall be placed on unrequested leave in the reverse order of their hiring in the categories of Elementary Principal, Secondary Principal, and Assistant Principal, except that in no event shall a principal bump into a position that has a higher base salary than his/her present position.
Placement on Unrequested Leave of Absence. The School Board may place on ULA such administrators as may be necessary because of discontinuance of position, lack of pupils, financial limitations, or merger of classes. Notice shall be received by the administrator by June 30th of the school year prior to the commencement of such leave. Such leave of absence may continue for a period of three (3) years, after that the right to reinstatement shall terminate; provided the administrator's right to reinstatement shall also terminate if the administrator fails to file with the School District, by April 1st of each year, a written statement requesting reinstatement. Such leave shall be effective no later than the close of the school year or at such earlier time as mutually agreed upon by the principal and the School Board.
Placement on Unrequested Leave of Absence a. Licensed Coordinators shall be placed on unrequested leave within their specific titles at the discretion of Human Resources and the Supervisor based on performance in their respective title(s).
