Bumping Rights definition

Bumping Rights means the displacement of a less senior Employee in an effort for an Employee to maintain employment with the District.
Bumping Rights of Permanent Employees on Promotion, Demotion and Transfer
Bumping Rights. Only those teachers who have an average three year ranking of “effective” or above will be given bumping rights. If three years of rankings are not available, the district will use an average of available years. In order to bump, a teacher must be certified in the position they seek to move into and must meet all state and federal requirements necessary to hold that position. In the event a teacher eliminated through RIF is certified to hold a position other than the one being eliminated, said teacher may bump another teacher in that position, as long as the teacher has seniority over that person and has an average composite ranking score that is greater than the other teacher. If the composite ratings of the teachers in the affected positions are the same then the following, in this order, shall control bumping:

Examples of Bumping Rights in a sentence

  • Bumping Rights: The right to bump a less senior teacher in another academic area may only occur if the teacher has taught within the endorsement for a period equal to the least senior teacher in the certified area.

Bumping Rights. The right of an employee, under certain conditions, to displace an employee with less seniority in a classification. Cause: Those activities, behaviors, or events which are listed within these rules as subject to disciplinary action. Class: A group of classifications related in duties and responsibilities as set forth in the class series established by the Personnel Commission. Classification: Positions in the classified service with a designated title and a specific statement of the duties required to be performed in each position.
Bumping Rights of Permanent Employees on Promotion, Demotion and Transfer‌ An employee who has attained permanent status in employment with the County who is serving a probationary period as a result of promotion or voluntary transfer shall return to their previous classification and department should the employee not become permanent in the promotion or transfer either by the choice of the employee or due to failure to pass probation, unless the employee has been terminated for cause in accordance with Article 18 of this memorandum. Alternatively, at the request of the employee and with the approval of Human Resources and the affected Department the employee may instead transfer or demote into any classification in the County where there is a vacant funded position within which the employee has obtained permanent status. The employee shall serve the same probationary period he or she would otherwise serve by a transfer or voluntary demotion (6 months).
Bumping Rights. A supervisor laid off from his/her position in a class may “bump” into the next lower class in which the supervisor has greater seniority than another classified employee in that class. A supervisor who has exercised “bumping” rights shall be placed on the salary step that the supervisor would have attained if he/she had remained continuously in the lower class and shall retain all service recognition and professional growth awards and all years of service towards Service Recognition and Longevity awards.
Bumping Rights. All employees who are scheduled to be laid off shall have the right to displace the employee with the least seniority in the same classification on the same shift (DAY, EVE, NOC) or other classification on the same shift provided the employee has the required knowledge, skills and ability based on the job description.
