Professional Leave Professional leave without pay will be granted to full-time and regular part-time Nurses who are elected to the College of Nurses to attend regularly scheduled meetings of the College of Nurses. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Nurses who are elected to the RNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings. Professional leave without pay will be granted to Registered Practical Nurses who are elected to the RPNAO to attend regularly scheduled meetings.
Educational Leave Leave without pay may be granted for educational leave for the duration of actual attendance in an educational program.
Association Leaves 1. The Board will provide the Association President or their designee with forty (40) days of paid release time during the course of the school year in order to conduct Association Business. The Association shall reimburse the Board for the cost of any substitute required as the result of any such released time which exceeds forty (40) days during the course of the school year. 2. The following provisions were not bargained and have been included for informational purposes only: a. Because of the many responsibilities imposed on the President of the Association, and in order to enhance the quality of instruction in the classes taught by him or her and maintain continuity, the Board will provide the building to which the President is assigned with a full-time aide who is also a certified substitute teacher. b. The building principal and the President will work out a mutually agreed upon schedule for the use of the aide. c. The presence of this aide will not be used to justify absences in excess of those authorized by the terms of this Agreement.
Association Leave The Association shall be allowed to use up to 5 days of leave each school year for use by teachers who are officers or agents of the Association. The Association shall reimburse Unified School District 434 for the loss of use of the teacher taking such leave by paying the daily cost of a substitute teacher. The Association shall notify the Superintendent not less than 5 calendar days in advance of using such leave.
Personal Medical Leave 1. Accrued 100% sick leave may be used at the employee's discretion. Such leave may be taken before or after the vacation described in No. 3 below. 2. Accrued 75% sick leave may be used following use of all 100% sick leave at the employee’s discretion. Such leave may be taken before or after the vacation described in No. 3 below.
Religious Leave Religious leave shall be without pay unless the employee elects to use accumulated compensatory time off, vacation time, or floating holiday time. Denial of religious leave is appealable as provided elsewhere in this section.
Family Medical Leave Act 1. If an employee takes a leave granted under this Article for a reason covered by the Family and Medical Leave Act, the leave shall be administered under the provisions of the FMLA. 2. Upon approval of the Superintendent and Association President, this Section may be modified as necessary to comply with federal law and rules and regulations. 3. The Board shall provide a copy of the policy on FMLA in the library of each building.
Medical Leave Pursuant to applicable provisions of the Civil Service Rules, County Code, and other law, medical leaves of absence will be granted by the employee’s Department Head upon request only upon submission of a doctor’s certificate or other satisfactory medical evidence of the employee’s need for such leave.
Family Medical Leave (a) An employee is entitled to family medical leave in accordance with the provisions of the Employment Standards Act. (b) An employee who is on Family Medical Leave shall continue to accumulate seniority and service and the Home will continue to pay its share of the premiums of the subsidized employee benefits, including pension (if permitted by the Plan and matched by the employee) in which the employee is participating during the leave. (c) Subject to any changes in an employee’s status which would have occurred had he or she not been on Family Medical Leave, the employee shall be reinstated to her former position.
Civic Leave Civic leave is provided to faculty members who are a) subpoenaed to appear before any court or other legally constituted body authorized to compel the attendance of witnesses, where the employee is not a party to the action; or b) summoned for jury duty by any court of competent jurisdiction. Faculty members required to report or serve for only part of a day for court or jury duty are obligated to return for the remainder of that day unless otherwise authorized by the Chair. Faculty members are required to provide written notification of civic leave to the Chair as far in advance of the leave as possible. Documentation regarding the leave (e.g., a copy of the summons, subpoena) shall be attached to the notification. The faculty member may retain any money received as compensation or expense reimbursement for jury duty or court attendance compelled by the summons or subpoena.
