Family Medical Leave definition

Family Medical Leave means an unpaid leave taken for the purpose of caring for or supporting a family member who is gravely ill with a significant risk of death within twenty-six (26) weeks. The leave may be taken for up to a maximum of eight (8) weeks.
Family Medical Leave leave taken for this purpose shall count toward an eligible employee’s annual entitlement to twelve (12) weeks of Family Medical Leave. Eligibility for Family Medical Leave is defined in Article 54 of this contract.

  • In accordance with District policy, Employees may be eligible for up to twelve weeks of unpaid leave under the Family Medical Leave Act, Federal Law or Washington State Law.
