  • Recognized Holidays 2201 For purposes of this Agreement, Recognized (paid) Holidays shall be New Year's Day (January 1st), Xxxxx Xxxx Day (la journée Xxxxx Xxxx), Good Friday, Easter Monday, Victoria Day, Canada Day (July 1st), the first Monday in August, Labour Day, Thanksgiving Day, Remembrance Day (November 11th), Christmas Day (December 25th), and Boxing Day (December 26th); and any other statutory holidays declared by federal or provincial authority. 2202 Whenever a Recognized Holiday falls on her/his scheduled days off, it is understood that this day off in lieu shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2203 A nurse required to work on a Recognized Holiday shall be paid at the rate of one and one-half (1.50) times her/his basic pay and in addition it is understood that one (1) day off shall be banked in accordance with Article 2206, or the nurse may request that a day in lieu of the Recognized Holiday be scheduled on a date mutually agreed between the Employer and the nurse, or the nurse may request that she/he receive an extra day’s pay at her/his basic rate of pay. 2204 A day off given in lieu of a Recognized Holiday shall be added to a weekend off or to scheduled days off unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2205 The Employer agrees to assign time off as equitably as possible over Christmas and New Year's, endeavouring to grant each nurse as many consecutive days off as reasonably possible over either Christmas Day or New Year's Day. As much as reasonably possible, Christmas Eve and Boxing Day shall be assigned with Christmas Day; New Year's Eve shall be assigned with New Year's Day, unless otherwise mutually agreed. Nurses shall be assigned time off over Christmas or New Years in alternate years unless otherwise mutually agreed. 2206 A nurse may accumulate up to four (4) days off in lieu of Recognized Holidays to be taken with scheduled days off or to complete a partial week of vacation or at such other time as is requested and granted in accordance with 1501. Unless otherwise agreed between the nurse concerned and the Employer, accumulated lieu days must be taken within the fiscal year in which they were earned.

  • Paid Holidays – Long Weekends (a) When an employee is scheduled to work a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to also schedule the employee to work the paid holiday. (b) When the employee is scheduled off on a weekend where a paid holiday falls on the Monday or the Friday, the Employer shall endeavour to schedule the employee off the paid holiday. (c) In the event of a scheduling conflict, 12.07 (a) will be the deciding provision.

  • Designated Holidays A part-time employee shall not be paid for the designated holidays but shall, instead be paid four decimal two five percent (4.25%) for all straight-time hours worked.

  • Observed Holidays The following days shall be observed as paid holidays for all eligible employees:

  • Weekdays All work performed outside of the designated shift Monday through Friday shall be paid at time and one-half (1-1/2) the straight-time hourly wage rate.

  • DESIGNATED PAID HOLIDAYS 16.01 Subject to Clause 16.02, the following shall be designated paid holidays for employees: (a) Good Friday (b) Easter Monday (c) The day fixed by proclamation of the Governor-in-Council for celebration of the Sovereign’s Birthday (d) Canada Day (e) Nunavut Day (f) Labour Day (g) The day fixed by Order of the Government of Nunavut as a general day of Thanksgiving (h) Remembrance Day (i) Christmas Day (j) Boxing Day (k) New Year’s Day (l) One additional day in each year that, in the opinion of the Employer, is recognized to be a territorial or civic holiday in the area in which the employee is employed or in any area where, in the opinion of the Employer, no such day is recognized as a territorial or civic holiday, the first Monday in August; and (m) Any day proclaimed by an Act of Parliament as a national holiday other than a designated paid holiday mentioned above shall be proclaimed as a designated paid holiday. (n) Where the employer agrees to provide the majority of employees in any community with time off in support of a community function, those employees who are unable to take advantage of the time off because of operational requirements will be paid at the overtime rate for hours worked during that period. (o) In communities where Hamlet Day is designated a municipal holiday, the Employer agrees to allow employees one half (½) day (4 hours) to participate in events. 16.02 Article 16.01 does not apply to an employee who is absent without pay on both the working day immediately preceding and the working day following the Designated Paid Holiday, except with the approval of the Employer or where leave has been granted under Article 13 16.03 No employee is entitled to be paid for a designated paid holiday on which he/she does not work when he/she is not entitled to wages for at least fifteen (15) days during the thirty (30) calendar days preceding the holiday. 16.04 When a day designated as a paid holiday under Clause 16.01 coincides with an employee’s day of rest, the holiday shall be moved to the employee’s first scheduled working day following the day of rest. 16.05 When a day designated as a paid holiday for an employee is moved to another day under the provisions of Clause 16.04: (a) work performed by an employee on the day from which the holiday was moved shall be considered as work performed on a day of rest; and (b) work performed by an employee on the day to which the holiday was moved shall be considered as work performed on a holiday.

  • Holidays Observed A. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both December 25 and the following Monday, or for both January 1 and the following Monday. F. When Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on December 25 or January 1, respectively, as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on December 25 or January 1, respectively. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both December 25 and the Friday immediately preceding or for both January 1 and the Friday immediately preceding. G. Notwithstanding Sections 1.B through 1.F above, the County may designate holiday observances as follows: 1. When Xxxxxxx’s Birthday, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Sunday, the next day (Monday) shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on the actual holiday (rather than the observed holiday) as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on the actual holiday rather than the observed holiday. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both the actual holiday (occurring on Sunday) and the observed holiday (occurring on Monday). 2. When Xxxxxxx’s Birthday, Independence Day, Columbus Day, Veteran’s Day, Christmas Day or New Year’s Day falls on a Saturday, the Friday immediately preceding shall be observed as the holiday unless an employee is required to work on the actual holiday (rather than the observed holiday) as part of his or her normal work schedule. In such cases the employee may, with Agency/Department approval, observe the holiday on the actual holiday rather than the observed holiday. Under no circumstances shall an employee receive holiday compensation for both the actual holiday (occurring on Saturday) and the observed holiday (occurring on the Friday immediately preceding). 3. Subsections 1 and 2 above will not be implemented unless the County implements the same holiday schedule for other recognized bargaining units (other than AOCDS).

  • Saturdays, Sundays, Holidays, etc If the last or appointed day for the taking of any action or the expiration of any right required or granted herein shall not be a Business Day, then such action may be taken or such right may be exercised on the next succeeding Business Day.

  • Named Holidays 22.01 (a) Regular Full-time Employees shall be entitled to receive a day off with pay on or for the following Named Holidays: New Year's Day Labour Day Alberta Family Day Thanksgiving Day Good Friday Remembrance Day Victoria Day Christmas Day Canada Day Boxing Day August Civic Holiday and any day proclaimed to be a holiday by: (i) The Government of the Province of Alberta; or (ii) The Government of Canada. Further, any day proclaimed by the government of the municipality to be a civic holiday for general observance by the municipal community in which the site is located.

  • Worked Holidays Employees who are required to work on the above described holidays shall receive the pay due them for the holiday, plus twice their base rate for all hours worked on such holidays.
