Common use of REST/MEAL BREAKS Clause in Contracts

REST/MEAL BREAKS. A. All employees shall receive a fifteen (15) minute break for each four (4) hours worked, in addition to their lunch break. Lunch break shall be on the employees' own time. Employees working three (3) or more hours longer than a normal workday shall be allowed at least one (1) thirty (30) minute unpaid meal period prior to or during the overtime period. Where the nature of the work allows employees to take intermittent rest periods equivalent to fifteen (15) minutes for each four (4) hours worked, scheduled rest breaks are not required. Missed rest breaks are not compensable as overtime. Breaks may not be collected or not taken in order to shorten the workday or workweek.
