Right to Select Carrier. The benefits provided for in Sections 1, 2, 3, and 4 of this Article shall be provided through a self-insured plan or under a group insurance policy or policies issued by an insurance company or insurance companies selected by the City. “Insurance Companies” include regular life insurance companies and non-profit organizations providing hospital, surgical, medical or life insurance benefits. If these benefits are insured by an insurance company, all benefits are subject to the provisions of the policies between the City and the insurance company. Notwithstanding such changes, the level of benefits shall remain equal or better.
