Rural Fire Brigade Leave. 5.9.1 If an employee is a volunteer member of any of the above services and is required to attend an emergency or fire and is therefore unable to attend work on that day or the following day due to insufficient rest. 5.9.2 That employee on the receival of a letter from the relevant governing authority stating that he was required to attend such emergency may make use of any outstanding sick leave or accrued/pro-rata leave so as to be paid for the time absent from work. 5.9.3 This time will not be paid until such confirmation is produced. 5.9.4 If the time were claimed from available sick leave the overweight payment would be as normal, but not paid until such confirmation is produced. 5.9.5 If the time were claimed from accrued/pro-rata annual leave, there would be no overweight payment for that day ie. Four-fifths payment would apply but that payment would not be made until such confirmation was produced. 5.9.6 None of the days absent from work for the above reasons shall be used when administering attendance guidelines for counselling on absenteeism or abandonment of position.

  • Volunteer Firefighting Leave Leave without pay will be granted when an employee who is a volunteer firefighter is called to duty to respond to a fire, natural disaster or medical emergency.

  • Health Leave Any regular employee of the District may, at the discretion of the Board, be granted a leave of absence without pay for reasons of health, such leave to be specified for a period of not more than one year. Such leave may be extended in case of serious health conditions.

  • Industrial Relations Training Leave Union Delegate/Employee Representative shall have access to industrial relations training in accordance with Appendix E hereof.

  • Public Service Leave An employee who is elected or appointed to public office shall be entitled to leave of absence without pay not to exceed one hundred eighty (180) days per year in accordance with state law, a copy of which is attached in Addendum B.

  • Childcare Leave 3.1 An employee shall be entitled to use ten (10) days of sick leave per year for childcare. 3.2 An employee who is adopting a child shall be entitled to use ten (10) days of sick leave per year for the purpose of caring for the needs of the adopted child.

  • Industrial Accident Leave Pursuant to the provisions of Education Code Section 44984, a certificated employee shall be provided leave of absence for industrial accident or occupational illness under the following rules and regulations: 7.5.1 The industrial accident or occupational illness must have arisen out of and in the course of employment of the employee; and must be accepted as a bona fide injury or illness arising out of and in the course of employment pursuant to guidelines established by the State Compensation Fund. 7.5.2 Allowable leave for such industrial accident or occupational illness shall be for the number of days of temporary disability not to exceed sixty (60) working days during which the schools of the Employer are required to be in session or when the employee would otherwise have been performing work for the Employer in any one fiscal year for the same accident. 7.5.3 Allowable leave for industrial accident or occupational illness shall not be accumulated from year to year. 7.5.4 The industrial accident or occupational illness leave under these rules and regulations shall commence on the first day of the absence. 7.5.5 When an employee is absent from his/her duties on account of industrial accident or occupational illness, he/she shall be paid such portion of the salary due him/her for any month in which absence occurs as when added to his/her temporary disability indemnity under Division 4 or Division 4.5 of the Labor Code, will result in a payment to him/her of not more than his/her full salary. 7.5.6 Industrial accident or occupational illness shall be reduced by one (1) day for each day of authorized absence regardless of a temporary disability indemnity award. 7.5.7 When an industrial accident or occupational illness leave overlaps into the next fiscal year, the employee shall be entitled to only the amount of unused leave due him/her for the same illness or injury. 7.5.8 During any paid leave of absence, the employee shall endorse over to the employer wage loss benefit checks received under the Workers’ Compensation laws of this state. The employer, in turn, shall issue the employee appropriate salary warrants for payment of wages or salary and shall deduct normal retirement and other authorized contributions. 7.5.9 Any employee receiving benefits as a result of these rules and regulations shall, during period of injury or illness, remain within the State of California unless the Employer authorizes travel outside the State. 7.5.10 Upon termination of the industrial accident or occupational illness leave, the employee shall be entitled to the benefits provided for sick leave (Education Code Sections 44977, 44978, 44983) and his/her absence for such purpose shall be deemed to have commenced on the date of termination of the industrial accident or occupational illness leave, provided that if the employee continues to receive temporary disability indemnity, he/she may elect to take as much of his/her accumulated sick leave which when added to his/her temporary disability indemnity will result in payment to him/her of not more than his/her full salary. 7.5.11 These provisions for industrial accident and illness leave shall apply only to certificated employees whose services are regularly scheduled. 7.5.12 An employee shall be deemed able to return to work from an industrial illness or accident at such time as he/she and his/her physician agree that the employee is able to perform his/her duties.

  • EMPLOYMENT POLICY AND UNION MEMBERSHIP 5.01 The Union and the Employer will cooperate in maintaining a desirable and competent labour force. The Employer will notify the Union of manpower requirements giving as much prior notice as possible. The Union will provide a list of manpower available. The Employer at its discretion may hire employees so listed or from other sources. 5.02 The Employer has the right to hire new employees as needed, provided that no new employee(s) will be hired while there are available employees on layoff qualified to do the work. 5.03 New employees will be hired on a three (3) month probationary period, and thereafter shall attain regular employment status. Their respective seniority shall be dated back to the date of their last hiring by the Employer. 5.04 Probationary employees are covered by the Agreement, excepting those provisions which specifically exclude such employees. 5.05 The Employer and the Union will endeavour to make use of an apprenticeship program for employees hired in the Skilled Xxxxxxx Helper and Xxxxxxx Helper classifications. The parties recognize the Employer's legitimate concern to maintain control over the availability of manpower especially at peak work periods. 5.06 Neither the Employer nor the Union will compel employees to join the Union. The Employer will not discriminate against any employees because of Union membership or lack of it, and will inform all new employees of the contractual relationship between the Employer and the Union. Before commencing work, any new employee will be referred by the Employer to a xxxxxxx or Local 52 Representative in order to give such xxxxxxx or Local 52 Representative an opportunity to describe the Union's purposes and representation policies to such new employees.

  • Business Leave Each teacher shall be allowed five (5) days per year non-accumulative, deducted from sick leave allowance, for employee absence due to emergency, business, professional, household, or personal matters that cannot be attended to outside of working hours. Prior approval must be given by the administration with the exception of emergencies. The use of business leave will be allowed immediately preceding or following a school holiday, provided a substitute is available. In no instance shall more than two (2) teachers from Xxxx Xxxxx Middle School, two (2) teachers from College Place High School, and four (4) teachers from Xxxxx Elementary School be allowed business leave on the same day.

  • Professional Development Leave A. Policy. Professional development leave shall be made available to employees who meet the requirements set forth below. Such leaves are granted to increase an employee's value to the University through enhanced opportunities for professional renewal, educational travel, study, formal education, research, writing, or other experience of professional value, not as a reward for service.

  • Parenting Leave Parenting Leave consists of Maternity Leave and Parental Leave. Parental Leave includes Paternity and Adoption Leave.
