Saturday and Sunday Working. Employees who are required to work on Saturday and / or Sunday as part of their normal working week are entitled to an enhancement. Saturday and Sunday Working. (Part 3, para 2.3.(b)) Employees required to work on Saturday as part of their normal working week will be paid at the basic hourly rate. Employees required to work on Sunday as part of their normal working week will be paid at basic time plus a half of the plain time rate.

Payments will be determined by the total number of Saturday and Sundays worked thus:- x Total of 45 – 53 Saturdays and/or Sundays per annum = 4 increments (representing a 1 in 2 weekend arrangement) x Between 34 – 44 Saturdays and /or Sundays per annum = 3 increments x Between 23 – 33 Saturdays and/or Sundays per annum = 2 increments x Between 10 - 22 Saturdays and/or Sundays per annum = 1 increment x Less than 10 Saturdays and/or Sunday – no premium payment (unless overtime applies) (ii) These payments are calculated on the basic salary and are part of the normal weeks pay as defined in 6.B.2 above. Overtime hours at plain time or premium rates do not attract any form of shift payment.
Saturday and Sunday Working. Employees at or below spinal column point 28 (Scale 6 and below) who are required to work on Saturday and / or Sunday as part of their normal working week will be paid at time and a half for work on undertaken on a Saturday and / or Sunday. Employees on SO1 / PO2 who are contractually required to work on a Saturday and/or Sunday may also receive such payments. Those on SCP 10 will receive double time for Sunday working.
