Shift Shortages. Shifts shall not be operated to the detriment of the safety of the fire personnel and the effectiveness of the fire department. A normal shift shall consist of two (2) full-time fire fighters per machine, to include, but not limited to, all front line engine companies, truck companies, and ambulances (except for Paramedic #1 and #3, one of which would be staffed with a civilian paramedic and a full-time fire fighter on shifts that continue to have a civilian paramedic on their permanent shift roster, or when an aerial ladder is stationed at a house as well as an engine). On any shift that does not have a civilian paramedic on their permanent shift roster, Paramedic #1 and #3 shall be staffed with two (2) full-time fire fighters, one (1) of which shall be a current system certified paramedic; but excluding Battalion #1. It is further agreed that as additional fire apparatus and/or ambulances are brought to front line, personnel would not be moved from engine or truck companies to provide the personnel to staff these vehicles, except that the City may add an additional jump crew (in conjunction with an ambulance) at such time as it has filled all of the positions which are authorized at the time of execution of this Agreement. Shift Shortages. Shifts shall not be operated to the detriment of the safety of the fire personnel and the effectiveness of the fire department. A normal shift shall consist of one (1) full-time Lieutenant (or Acting Lieutenant) and one (1) full-time firefighter per frontline engine/truck company, and two (2) full-time firefighters per frontline ambulance. Any shift that would have a full-time civilian medic shall staff an ambulance with (1) one full-time firefighter and one (1) full-time civilian medic. It is further agreed that as additional fire apparatus and/or ambulances are brought to front line, personnel would not be moved from engine or truck companies to provide the personnel to staff these vehicles. While utilizing four (4) stations, the following staffing will apply. Any station staffed with a frontline engine/truck and a frontline ambulance will be staffed with four (4) personnel. Stations staffed with just a frontline engine/truck company will be staffed with two (2) personnel and will have the ability to jump to an ambulance when call volume dictates. All shift shortages shall be filled at the discretion of the Fire Chief. The Fire Chief may reassign the six (6) junior fire fighters from shift to shift in order to meet the requirements of this section, or to ensure a third ambulance is staffed with two (2) fire fighters. This can only be done if the shift floating from retains a third ambulance in service. Under no circumstance shall a fire fighter be required to work two (2) consecutive shifts, or be moved to another shift for less than a full shift, or be moved to cover less than eight (8) hours. If any number of the junior six fire fighters are unavailable due to vacation, sick time, duty injury, floating, or inability to contact, the City has the right to move up to the next fire fighter in seniority on that shift. If that fire fighter is unavailable the City may not move up the seniority list and the shift shortage will be filled out by overtime work in accordance with Article IV, Section 4.3 of this Agreement. For the purposes of this Agreement, a fire fighter is unavailable due to vacation, sick time, personal time or duty injury. Minimum staffing shall be eleven (11) employees.

Shifts shall be filled in the following manner: The minimum number of full time patrolmen working each day shall be as follows: 1st Shift (0600-1400 Hours) = 4 Patrolmen 2nd Shift (1400-2200 Hours) = 5 Patrolmen 3rd Shift (2200-0600 Hours) = 4 Patrolmen Any disagreement arising out of this provision can be taken through the grievance procedure.

  • Cash Shortages No employee may be required to make up cash register shortages unless he or she is given the privilege of checking the money and daily receipts upon starting and completing the work shift, and unless the employee has exclusive access to the cash register during the work shift and unless cash is balanced daily, except as specified below. No employee may be required to make up register shortages when Management exercises the right to open the register during the employee's work shift, unless the register is opened in the presence of the employee and the employee is given the opportunity to verify all withdrawals and/or deposits. No employee shall be held responsible for cash shortages unless he or she has exclusive access to his or her cash.

  • Sabotage Sabotage is of concern to all Parties involved on any work site and may affect safety, and therefore both the physical and mental well being of all persons on site. The Parties to this Agreement will not tolerate sabotage, and will ensure that any person/s responsible for such action is immediately dismissed. It is accepted that the relevant authorities may have to be notified, and provisions of the OH&S Act implemented.

  • Outages 9.7.1.1 Outage Authority and Coordination. Interconnection Customer and Transmission Owner may each in accordance with Good Utility Practice in coordination with the other Party and Transmission Provider remove from service any of its respective Interconnection Facilities, System Protection Facilities, Network Upgrades, System Protection Facilities or Distribution Upgrades that may impact the other Party’s facilities as necessary to perform maintenance or testing or to install or replace equipment. Absent an Emergency Condition, the Party scheduling a removal of such facility(ies) from service will use Reasonable Efforts to notify one another and schedule such removal on a date and time mutually acceptable to the Parties. In all circumstances, any Party planning to remove such facility(ies) from service shall use Reasonable Efforts to minimize the effect on the other Parties of such removal.

  • Breakdown The failure of a COVERED PART under normal service and usage of the VEHICLE. A COVERED PART has failed when it can no longer perform the function for which it was designed solely because of its condition.

  • Safety Shoes 3901 Employees who are required to wear steel-toed safety shoes will receive $200 toward the purchase and/or replacement of these shoes in the first quarter of each year. Any employee out on an authorized leave shall receive payment within thirty days of their return to paid duty. New employees who are required to wear steel- toed safety shoes will receive $200 toward the purchase of shoes in their first paycheck; for employees hired on or after December 1, he/she shall not receive an additional $200 in the first quarter.

  • Casual Labour 19.1.1 A casual employee is an employee employed on an occasional basis and whose work pattern is not regular and systematic. When a person is engaged for casual employment the employee will be informed in writing that the employee is to be employed as a casual, the job to be performed, the classification level, the actual or likely length of engagement including number of hours to be worked per week, and the relevant rate of pay. 19.1.2 A casual employee shall be entitled to all the applicable rates and conditions of employment prescribed in this Agreement except annual leave, personal leave, parental leave, jury service and public holidays. 19.1.3 On each occasion a casual employee is required to attend work the employee shall be entitled to payment for a minimum of four hours work plus the relevant fares and travel allowance. 19.1.4 A casual employee for working ordinary hours shall be paid 125 percent of the hourly rate prescribed in this Agreement for the employees’ classification. 19.1.5 A casual employee required to work overtime or weekend shall be entitled to the relevant penalty rates prescribed in this Agreement provided that: Where the relevant penalty rate is time and a half the employee shall be paid 175 percent of the hourly rate prescribed in this Agreement for the employee’s classification and where the relevant penalty rate is double time the employee shall be paid 225 percent of the hourly rate prescribed in this Agreement for the employee's classification. 19.1.6 A casual employee required to work on a public holiday shall be paid 275 percent of the hourly rate prescribed in this Agreement for the employee's classification. 19.1.7 Termination of all casual employment shall require one hours notice on either side or the payment or forfeiture of one hours pay, as the case may be.

  • Complete Work without Extra Cost Except to the extent otherwise specifically stated in this contract, the Contractor shall obtain and provide, without additional cost to the City, all labor, materials, equipment, transportation, facilities, services, permits, and licenses necessary to perform the Work.

  • CALAMITY DAYS Section 42.1 Calamity days are those days of scheduled operation when unanticipated events or conditions require closing of a Board facility or facilities by the Superintendent. Employees will be paid for up to three (3) calamity days per year. However, employees will not be paid for school days or hours added to the school year in order to meet the state-mandated school year requirement. Section 42.2 For the first three (3) calamity days in a school year, employees will not be required to work when the facility in which they work is closed. For all remaining calamity days in a school year, employees will be required to report to work during the hours of 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Employees may use personal or sick leave on a calamity day in which they are required to work. Requests to use personal leave on calamity days do not need to be submitted three (3) days in advance in accordance with Article 28 of this Agreement, but employees shall notify a Building Administrator or other system as designated by the administration no later than one (1) hour prior to the time he is scheduled to report to work. Section 42.3 Employees who are on vacation or a leave of absence when a calamity day is declared will not receive calamity day pay. If on vacation, they will receive vacation pay for which they are entitled. Employees who are scheduled for a personal, sick, or compensatory day on the day of a declared calamity will have that personal, sick, or compensatory day reinstated. These reinstatements will not be made when only a portion of a day is declared a calamity (such as early dismissal). Section 42.4 When a calamity forces the closing of the facility prior to regular closing time, employees will remain on the job until dismissed by the Building Principal. Such dismissal time will not exceed more than one-half (1/2) hour beyond the Program Enrollee dismissal time. Section 42.5 The rest of this Article does not apply to Early Intervention Specialists. Early Intervention Specialists who are scheduled to work on calamity days shall work their regularly scheduled hours, or earlier as released by the Superintendent, at their regular rate of pay unless the building where the employees work is closed due to no water, no heat, etc. or the sheriff closes the roads.
