Signal Warrant Analysis. For any intersections for which an acceptable warrant study is not on file, the Engineer will perform an abbreviated warrant analysis process that makes use of the count data otherwise needed for the project. As a first step, the turning movement count data will be used to develop estimates of the hourly volumes for at least four peak hours. This will be done by applying a factor of 1.25 to the 45-minute volumes (i.e. the two halves of the 90-minute periods actually counted) to approximate the hourly volumes. These volumes will be compared against the criteria for Warrant 2 (Four-Hour Vehicular Volume). Based on experience from the TAP corridors, this method will be adequate to demonstrate that approximately 90 percent of the intersections meet Warrant 2. Warrant 3 (Peak Hour) is to be applied only in unusual cases (office complexes, manufacturing plants, etc.) that attract or discharge large numbers of vehicles over a short time. As applicable, the TMC data will be used to determine whether or not the volume component of Warrant 3 is met. Warrant 8 (Roadway Network) is applicable at the common intersection of two or more major routes. As applicable, the TMC data will be used of determine whether or not the volume component of Warrant 8 is met. This scope does not include additional data collection or analysis to determine whether or not at least one of the other signal warrants are met.

Signal Warrant Analysis. Xxxxxxx Xxxx will prepare a Traffic Signal Warrant Analysis at the subject intersection(s) based upon industry standards and in accordance with requirements of the Approving Agency. [NOTE: For purposes of this proposal, the Approving Agency refers to TxDOT.] Included in this item:  Contact the Approving Agency representative to confirm the specific study parameters and other aspects of the required study.  Collect current traffic volumes on subject roadways sufficient for the study.  Apply appropriate adjustments (if any) to the current traffic volumes to represent anticipated, future conditions with the proposed traffic signal.  Analyze the traffic-volume-related warrants (Warrants 1, 2 and/or 3) from the Texas Manual On Uniform Traffic Control Devices for the subject intersection to determine if the criteria of one or more warrants are satisfied.  As needed, recommend physical modifications to the subject intersection to better facilitate a traffic signal including storage length for left turn lanes. Signal Warrant Analysis. It is our understanding that Signal Warrant Analysis is not included in this scope of work. However, if required by TxDOT the Consultant will submit a scope change request to the Client who will secure authorization for this task to be included in this scope of work.
Signal Warrant Analysis. The CONSULTANT shall perform an analysis of an existing unsignalized intersection in order to determine if signal warrants are met and if so, a signal should be installed. This analysis may include geometric and phasing improvements to increase capacity and operational efficiency. Task 4: Roundabout Intersection Analysis The CONSULTANT shall be responsible for determining all input parameters and obtaining all field data for the roundabout analysis. The field review will include identifying any utilities discernible from a ground level view. This may include electrical transmission lines, natural gas pipelines, other utilities (water, wastewater, etc.) correspondent easements, railroads, etc. The review will also document any potential site characteristics that may influence the roundabout feasibility such as adjacent wetlands or other drainage features, parks or historic properties, structures, property access, or other environmental concerns. The CONSULTANT shall perform a cursory geometric screening to review potential impacts based upon the estimated roundabout size. The review will be conducted over scaled aerial photography (rectified) with the intent to highlight any potential issues identifiable in this cursory screening. This could include expected needs for additional Right-of-Way (ROW), possible environmental or utility impacts, expected needs for approach realignments that could impact adjacent properties, etc. These items will be coordinated with appropriate CITY staff to determine possible options to be explored as part of the concept development. The CONSULTANT shall use SIDRA 6 computer software to compare the existing conditions of an intersection to the proposed roundabout alternative. The CONSULTANT should refer to FDOT’s Traffic Analysis Handbook for guidance regarding accepted methodologies and input parameters. The CONSULTANT shall identify the existing operating mode of the intersection and a minimum of three periods will be analyzed (normally the morning, midday and evening peak hours). For existing signalized intersections, the CONSULTANT will obtain existing signal timings from the maintaining agency for use in the analysis. The analysis should include a sensitivity analysis to determine the longevity of the roundabout and its capacity to accommodate future growth. The results of the SIDRA 6 analyses for the existing and proposed roundabout shall be tabulated. The results shall include the delay and queue lengths by approach.
Signal Warrant Analysis. Using the traffic count data Task 1, applicable signal warrant criteria as published in the Indiana Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (IMUTCD) will be evaluated. Based on the general traffic characteristics and surrounding land uses at the study intersections, the analysis will include the following IMUTCD traffic signal warrants: ⚫ Warrant 1 - Eight-Hour Vehicular Volume ⚫ Warrant 2 - Four-Hour Vehicular Volume ⚫ Warrant 3 - Peak Hour ⚫ Warrant 4 - Pedestrian Volume Based on the count data and review of signal warrant criteria, Xxxxxx-Xxxx will identify whether a new traffic signal at the intersection of 600 West and Brookside Parkway is warranted.
