Common use of Single Day Absences Clause in Contracts

Single Day Absences. An employee shall not be entitled to single days of paid sick leave on more than two occasions in any one year of service unless the employee produces to the Employer a certificate from a qualified medical practitioner to the effect that the absence from duty was on account of personal illness or injury by accident. Nothing in this shall limit the Employer's rights under 25.1.3 of this clause.

Single Day Absences. An employee shall be allowed three single separate days sick leave in any one qualifying year without the need to produce a medical certificate. Where an employee has been paid three single days sick pay he/she shall not be entitled to payment for any further days single days of paid sick leave on more than two occasions in any one year of service unless the employee he/she produces to the Employer employer a medical certificate from or if not practicable, a qualified statutory declaration stating why not practicable. Each employee will generally be notified by the pay office after they have taken three single days sick absence without producing a medical practitioner to the effect that the absence from duty was on account of personal illness or injury by accident. Nothing in this shall limit the Employer's rights under 25.1.3 of this clausecertificate.
