Special Responsibilities Allowance a) An academic staff member required by the employer to undertake special responsibilities over and above those normally expected of an academic staff member (as defined by the employer) will be paid an allowance. This allowance will reflect the nature of the responsibilities and must be at a rate of at least $1,000 per annum and no more than 20% of the academic staff member's base salary. b) The granting of any special responsibilities allowance will be confirmed in writing to the employee. The confirmation will define the responsibilities and the period for which the allowance will be paid. The allowance will be subject to annual review and will be terminated by the employer by giving one month's notice in writing.
