TEACHING FACULTY – CREDIT COURSES. ‌‌ 5.6.1 The assignment for a full-time, classroom instructor of credit classes shall be one hundred seventy-six (176) duty days per fiscal year, thirty-four (34) hours per week consisting of a combination of in-class teaching and preparation for teaching, plus five and one half (5.5) hours of additional time for student conferences, plus five and one half (5.5) hours for professional growth and development, College governance and other professional responsibilities. The first duty day will be the first business day prior to the start of the Fall classes.‌ The assignment for an eleven-month full-time, classroom instructor shall be one hundred ninety-eight (198) days per fiscal year, thirty-four (34) hours per week consisting of a combination of in-class teaching and preparation for teaching, plus five and one half (5.5) hours of additional time for student conferences, plus five and one half (5.5) hours for professional growth and development, College governance and other professional responsibilities.‌ The assignment of a twelve-month full-time, classroom instructor shall be two-hundred- twenty days (220) days per fiscal year, thirty-four (34) hours per week consisting of a combination of in-class teaching and preparation for teaching, plus five and one half (5.5) hours of additional time for student conferences, plus five and one half (5.5) hours for professional growth and development, College governance and other professional responsibilities.‌ First year contract (probationary) and temporary faculty shall have two (2) additional days of assignment for orientation prior to the first duty day.‌

Except for the welfare of the College, no contract or regular faculty member shall have a total overload or hourly assignment exceeding an average of nine (9) hours per week in any semester, unless a single assignment exceeds this amount. Exceptions to the nine (9) hour assignment must be recommended by the Division Xxxx and approved by the Vice President for Instruction.

The first duty day shall be the first day of classes. First-year contract (probationary) and temporary faculty shall have two (2) additional days of assignment for orientation.

  • Teaching Load 11-1 The parties recognize that the number of students, the number of preparations, and the amount of planning time are related to student performance. 11-2 CLASS SIZE 11-2-1 The parties recognize that class size is related to economics and that reduction of class size is faced with fiscal constraints. The parties further recognize that it is not feasible at this time to set general numerical limitations upon class size because of physical space available, special programs, special student needs, attendance area variances, differences in scheduling systems, busing, and because of other variable causes affecting class size. Nevertheless, the parties shall make reasonable effort to maintain class size at reasonable, workable, and educationally effective levels in all situations. 11-3 TEACHER LOAD 11-3-1 Teaching load shall be defined as the number of separate class preparations that a teacher has per school day as delineated in the course description guide.

  • TEACHING HOURS AND TEACHING LOAD Section 1 Work Day For the applicable agreement period, the normal work day will be seven and one-quarter (7 ¼) hours including arrival time fifteen (15) minutes before and departure time (15) minutes after the students’ school day. The normal work day will include uninterrupted prep time. The Building Principal, as authorized by the Superintendent, upon request of a teacher or group of teachers, may waive the requirement to remain fifteen (15) minutes after the school day for a specific day or days. It is recognized; however, that the proper performance of their duties may, on occasion, require these persons to work longer than the normal work day, i.e. for conferences, faculty meetings, department meetings, etc. Therefore, “mandatory meetings will occur two times per month and be no longer than 90 minutes in length, inclusive of the additional 15 minutes beyond the scheduled student school day. A schedule of the meetings will be distributed by June 30th of the previous school year, but may be changed at the discretion of the Principal with 48 hours’ notice.” Teachers will also remain at school after the fifteen (15) minutes described above, during one (1) day each calendar week for such periods of time as is necessary to provide students extra help, and/or to meet with parents or guardians, concerning the progress of their children or wards. No teacher shall be required to work more than a normal seven and one- quarter (7 ¼) hour day, including fifteen (15) minutes before and (15) minutes after the students’ school day, which will include uninterrupted prep time; this provision does not apply to other contractually agreed upon time and meetings. Should state law require a longer instructional day, or more days, the teachers shall work the added time and the parties shall immediately commence impact bargaining on the issue. This article does not purport to cover the arrival and departure time of teachers involved in special assignments. Section 2 Other Personnel Personnel other than classroom teachers will work at their assigned tasks for the length of the regular teachers' work day. The exact daily schedule will be worked out on an individual basis between the Administration and the employee with notification to the Association. Instructional Coaches are required to work an additional five (5) days at their per diem rate, beyond the work year for a total of 189 days. These days will be determined prior to the start of the new school year and at the discretion of the Superintendent and the Chief Academic Officer.

  • Compassionate Leave (1) An employee is entitled to take up to 2 days’ paid compassionate leave on each occasion that a member of his or her immediate family or a member of his or her household: (a) contracts or develops an illness that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or (b) sustains an injury that poses a serious threat to his or her life; or

  • Taking compassionate leave An Employee may take compassionate leave for a particular permissible occasion if the leave is taken: (a) to spend time with the member of the Employee’s immediate family or household who has contracted or developed the personal illness, or sustained the personal injury, referred to clause 5. 2.3.1 of this Agreement; or (b) after the death of the member of the Employee’s immediate family or household An Employee may take compassionate leave for a particular permissible occasion as (a) a continuous two (2) day period; or (b) two (2) separate periods of one (1) day each; or (c) any separate periods to which the Employee and the Employer agree. If the permissible occasion is the contraction or development of a personal illness, or the sustaining of a personal injury, the Employee may take the compassionate leave for that occasion at any time while the illness or injury persists.

  • Employee Facilities Employee Facilities. Restrooms and attendant facilities shall be provided as required in the orders and regulations of the State of Washington Department of Labor and Industries. A good faith effort will be made by the Employer to provide facilities for employees’ personal belongings.

  • Investigatory Leave The Appointing Authority/designee may place an employee who is the subject of a disciplinary investigation on an investigatory leave with pay provided a reasonable basis exists to warrant such leave.

  • Extended Health Plan An employee who makes an election under this provision must enrol in each and every of the benefit plans and shall not be entitled to except any of them.

  • Training Courses The Employer shall bulletin any training courses and experimental programs for which employees may be selected. The bulletin shall contain the following information: (a) type of course (subjects and material to be covered), (b) time, duration and location of the course, (c) basic minimum qualifications required for applicants. This bulletin shall be posted for a period of two (2) weeks on bulletin boards in all Departments to afford all interested employees an opportunity to apply for such training. The senior qualified applicant shall be selected.

  • Service Commitment Newly hired nurses and currently employed nurses who voluntarily choose to relocate and receive a relocation allowance may be required to serve for a minimum of two years at their base before they will be considered for transfer to another base. This commitment will not apply when the employer and nurse mutually agree to waive it and when relocation occurs as a result of layoff/rehire.
