Professional Growth and Development. 1. The Board agrees to pay for tuition incurred for any courses and training sessions which the Board requires a teacher to take.
2. The Board encourages professional development. Leave for professional days, conferences, training, school visits, etc. shall be considered in a fair and equitable manner in light of building and district needs. Related costs should be fully reimbursed for any member who is requested to attend a professional function by a District official.
Professional Growth and Development. A. All Professional Growth and Development Activities of the district shall be recommended by the Superintendent and approved by the Board of Education.
B. Effective July 1, 2012, any and all employees who have earned professional development units (“PDUs”) shall have those PDUs permanently secured (i.
Professional Growth and Development. A. The parties, in recognition of the individual and organizational benefits derived from a proactive professional development program, endorse and commit to providing the M- DCPS professional and technical workforce, opportunities to develop or enhance professional competency and leadership skills. Specifically, the parties agree:
1. To expand or develop M-DCPS inservice training courses and programs in response to occupational, organizational and technological changes;
2. To encourage employees to avail themselves of pertinent training and career development opportunities offered by M-DCPS and other sources; and
3. To monitor through the M-DCPS/DCSAA Labor Management Committee the training needs of professional and technical employees and develop in conjunction with the Office of Labor Relations plans and programs for meeting identified needs.
Professional Growth and Development. A. All teachers will be required to participate in accordance with the professional growth and development plan approved by the Board and filed with the State Board of Education pursuant to Connecticut General Statutes as amended.
B. Teachers will be reimbursed for each course necessary to teach new curriculum as required by the administration in an amount not to exceed the cost per credit hour rate set by the University of Connecticut.
C. The teachers’ conference account shall be set with a distribution to be determined by the Superintendent according to need.
D. Tuition payment equivalent to the rate charged by the University of Connecticut will be reimbursed to teachers for any course taken in related subject areas not leading to a degree or salary change and with prior approval of the Superintendent of Schools. Payment is to be made upon verification of successful completion of said course along with a paid tuition receipt.
Professional Growth and Development. Employees may be granted two professional days per work year at the discretion of the Superintendent. These days shall be directly related to the employee's position and will be approved by the immediate Supervisor and at the discretion of the Superintendent. The District shall pay the fees for these courses.
Professional Growth and Development. 8.1 Professional Growth and Development includes, but is not limited to the following: college or university course work, leadership roles, and other activities that relate to both individual and District professional and educational goals or professional service.
8.2 Professional growth through coursework taken at accredited colleges and universities shall be recognized by advancement on the salary schedule (see section 5.
Professional Growth and Development. 9.3.1 All regular and contract unit members shall be entitled to $150 per fiscal year to attend professional meetings, conferences, or other activities approved by the appropriate administrator which directly relate to the unit member’s assignment. Absence reports are not required when attending events approved under 9.3.1.
9.3.2 With prior approval of the appropriate administrator, unit members may assign their conference funds to another unit member and the District may add to the fund.
9.3.3 At the end of each fiscal year, unused Professional Growth and Development funds shall be carried over for each unit member in the Division budget for allocation to Professional Growth and Development Funds activities defined in Section 9.3.1 for the next fiscal year.
Professional Growth and Development. Absences may be authorized by the Executive Director to permit employees to visit another school system for professional development, or to attend local, district, state, national or international meetings or conferences for professional development. Authorization for such absence must be obtained prior to the absence by a written request to the Executive Director. An employee who attends such meetings or conferences, or who visits another school system, shall be considered assigned to duty with full payment of salary. The employee shall enter his/her absence on the electronic reporting system used by the District.
Professional Growth and Development. Professional Development Funds: Professional development and research assistance funds shall be made available to graduate student employees. At the time of distribution, graduate student employees shall receive written notification that they may use these funds for any legitimate scholarly, educational, or professional purpose, including without limitation professional travel, supplies, books, journals, and equipment. Graduate student employees in Continuing and Professional Education shall not be eligible for such funds. Professional Growth and Consultation: Upon written request, any graduate student employee has a right to receive consultation from the department head or direct supervisor on their assignment. The sole purpose of this consultation will be to improve the quality of the work being done. Such requests will be limited to a maximum of three per semester.
Professional Growth and Development. The parties agree that professional growth and development is critical to maintaining and improving world class fire rescue operations. The parties further agree that implementing fair and consistent eligibility standards for promotion is a priority. To this end, the parties agree to establish the following eligibility standards for promotional examinations:
