The Tenure Status clause defines the nature and duration of an individual's employment or appointment within an organization, specifying whether the position is permanent, temporary, probationary, or subject to periodic review. In practice, this clause clarifies the conditions under which an employee holds their role, such as outlining eligibility for tenure, the evaluation process, or the criteria for transitioning from probationary to permanent status. Tenure Status. Administrators shall not be granted tenure in their administrative capacities. Each contract executed between the Board and individual Administrator shall contain a provision which excludes that Administrator from obtaining tenure in any administrative position.

On returning from leave, the unit member shall retain the same probationary status as that held at the time this leave was granted .

Tenure Status. If any Administrator has attained tenure status, his/her contract of employment may be terminated if his/her position is eliminated, but only if there is no other position available in the school system for which the Administrator is certified and qualified. Therefore, Administrators who have acquired tenure will have first preference for retention in positions for which they are certified and qualified. This shall include first preference with regard to positions that are held by teachers, in addition to positions which are open and available.

Tenure Status. 8.5.2.1 Academic tenure means an appointment that can be terminated only for specifically stated causes as set forth in Article 10. It should be granted only to persons who have demonstrated by passing successfully through a period of probation that they are fully qualified teachers or researchers. Tenure is a privilege, not a right. It is the recognition that a faculty member has made some worthy contribution to the University and the profession in terms of professional competence, professional recognition, professional service, and civility.
