Tuition/Program Reimbursement. The Board shall reimburse employees for actual and receipted cost of tuition up to the maximum established by the Board. In order to be eligible for such reimbursement, the employee must hold a career certificate, or higher; the course to be taken is not offered by the College of Lake County; and a written request to the immediate Administrative Supervisor shall be submitted prior to enrollment in the course. Payment shall be made upon completion of the course in which the individual has received a grade of pass/fail, or a "C" or equivalent, depending upon the grading procedure of the class instructor. The individual must remain employed at the College of Lake County at the time of the payment date to qualify for reimbursement. If the employee is taking coursework under the auspices of a scholarship or grant which is paying for the tuition, the Board shall not be obligated to duplicate that tuition amount. If the scholarship does not cover the entire cost of tuition, the Board shall then be obligated to pay the difference within the limits established above. In addition to the above and subject to prior approval by the Vice President of Administrative Affairs via the appropriate form, bargaining unit members will be reimbursed for the receipted costs of non-credit-bearing programs (such as may be offered by trade unions or organizations, private companies or other entities that offer non-credit bearing programs) that directly contribute to the performance of the bargaining unit member in his/her current job assignment.
