Vacation Postings. Vacation periods will be posted twice per year covering two (2), six (6) month periods. The first posting will be for the months of May thru October and will also include requests for Christmas and New Years weeks. The deadline for requests in this period will be April 1. Employees will be notified by April 15 in regards to their vacation request being granted. The second period will be for the months of November through April and will include the normal period of March break as set by the Board of Education in regards to elementary and secondary school or through consultation with the Union. The deadline for requests for this period will be October 1 with all Employees notified as above by October 15. Employees may request vacations in each period at any time although requests received will not be considered until after the due date in each period and will be granted on a seniority basis provided that Article 21.04 is satisfied in regards to the number of Employees off at any given time. Any requests for vacations made after the due dates within each period will be subject to the mutual agreement of the Employee and the Employer and will be considered on a first requested, first allowed basis. In the event of conflict, seniority shall govern. Once an employee has requested vacation, they shall not be given shifts to replace vacation time unless such shifts are available within the same pay period at the time of the vacation request. Any employee who requests vacation shall not be entitled to cancel the request and regain the vacation hours once the hours have been given to another employee unless such request is submitted with no less than two (2) weeks notice.

  • Vacation Postponement If a bargaining unit employee’s vacation becomes due during a period when he/she is on leave due to illness or injury, he/she may request: 1. that his/her vacation date be changed. The District shall grant such request in accordance with vacation dates available at that time. 2. to carry over his/her vacation to the following year. Such request shall be made through submission (within two (2) weeks of the employee’s return to duty) of a written vacation plan to the employee’s supervisor for approval.

  • Vacation Credits All employees shall participate in the County’s Terminal Pay Plan (Plan). However, only the terminal paychecks (including unused vacation) of those employees who have reached the age of fifty-five (55) shall be placed into the Plan. These terminal paychecks shall be placed into the Plan on a pre-tax basis in accordance with the Plan, all applicable laws and all rules and regulations applicable to the Plan.

There will be no proration when they leave if it is before June 30. 2. Newly employed twelve (12) month ESPs hired after July 1st of any year will receive pro-rated credit of .4167 vacation days per month. Employees hired on or before the 15th of any month will receive vacation allotment for the entire month, and those hired after the 15th of any month will not receive any allotment for that month. Vacation time will not be earned and available for use until the following July 1st. 3. All Vacation days accrued will be rounded up to the nearest whole day. 4. Vacation time will be credited to twelve (12) month ESPs at the end of the day on June 30th following the completion of service through June 30th for that year. Credit for vacation will be granted for actual time worked. No current 12 month ESPs already accrued vacation days will be modified as a function of this agreement. Twelve-month District Office Administrative Assistants and twelve-month Principal’s Secretaries will only work during scheduled holiday vacations and days in which school is closed as needed for emergencies and other pressing matters. Vacation requests will be given at least two weeks in advance, except in the case of emergency.

  • Vacations – Interruption (a) Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to a serious illness which requires hospitalization and commenced before and continues into the scheduled vacation period, the period of such illness shall be considered sick leave provided the employee provides satisfactory documentation of the hospitalization. (b) Where a vacationing employee becomes seriously ill requiring her to be an inpatient in a hospital, the period of such illness shall be considered sick leave provided that the employee provides satisfactory documentation of the hospitalization. (c) The portion of the employee's vacation which is deemed to be sick leave under the above provisions will not be counted against the employee's vacation credits. (d) Where an employee's scheduled vacation is interrupted due to bereavement and jury and witness duty, the employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave and/or jury and witness duty in accordance with Articles 11.04 and 11.06. (e) The portion of the employee's vacation which is deemed to be bereavement and jury and witness duty leave under the above provisions will not be counted against the employee's vacation credits. (a) Employees shall indicate their vacation preference by March 30th of each year, and the Employer shall post the final vacation schedule by May 1st of each year. Choice of vacation period shall be based on seniority but shall be determined by the Director of Resident Care or designate having due regard to the proper operation of the Home. Vacation requests made after the posting of the vacation schedule shall be determined by the Director of Resident Care or designate having due regard to the proper operation of the Home on a first come first served basis, not on the basis of seniority. (b) Employees may request to have the weekend off prior to or following their vacation. The Employer will endeavour to schedule such request subject to the following: i) Where the weekend off is granted and the employee was otherwise scheduled to work on those days, such extra days will be deemed to be vacation days; ii) The employee must have such vacation entitlement available; and, iii) The weekend off being requested must be contiguous with (i.e. consecutive with) the employee’s original vacation.
