Christmas And New Years. The scheduling regulations will not operate during the period December 15th to January 15th. The Employer will endeavour to schedule every other weekend off. A nurse shall be scheduled off duty for a period of not less than five (5) consecutive days, either at Christmas or New Year’s or premium pay will apply. For the purpose of this article "Christmas" shall be defined as December 24th, 25th and 26th and "New Year’s" shall be defined as December 31st and January 1st and 2nd. This provision shall not apply to any unit where nurses normally work Monday to Friday and are not normally scheduled to work on paid holidays. Nurses shall indicate their preference for either Christmas or New Years off on a posted request sheet by October 15th. Should a conflict occur regarding the preference of having either Christmas or New Years off, the decision will be based on the previous years schedule in order to allow nurses to be off on alternating Christmas and New Years. In the event that both employees were off on the same holiday in the previous year, seniority shall be the governing factor.
Christmas And New Years. For new hires Christmas will be the start holiday worked. The schedule shall be posted as per usual but a wish list where staff can sign up for preferred holidays will be posted and, once the holiday schedule is made, the Employer will go through the wish list and try to accommodate those wishes. The wish list will be posted on October 1st and removed October 15th. The schedule will then be posted by the 2nd Friday of November as per Article 13.04(a). The above process will be done on a trial basis for Christmas/New Year’s 2012 and will be reviewed in a labour/management meeting in 2013 to determine if it is to be made permanent or discontinued. Input will be received by the membership as well as management and the union. Line switches will be permitted in April and October of each year so that summer and Christmas schedules are not affected. Management will post a letter for requests for rotation in writing. Staff must put their request in writing by the posted date and only requests put in by that time will be looked at. Only the staff that are able to rotate who bid on the lettered lines will be able to rotate. Requests will be fulfilled only if enough people put in requests to rotate (if only one person wants to rotate then it will not take place) to start in October 2012. This process will be on a trial basis for a one (1) year period. It will then be reviewed in a labour/management meeting along with the Christmas sign up in 2013.
Christmas And New Years. All Employees who are not required by the Employer to work between Christmas Day and New Year’s, shall be granted time off work between such days with pay. It is understood that the Civic Holiday shall be deemed to fall and be earned and paid within such period.
Christmas And New Years. Christmas Day shall be deemed to extend over a forty (40) hour period from 7:00 A.M. on December 24 through 11:00 P.M. on December 25. New Year’s Day shall be deemed to extend over a thirty-two (32) hour period from 3:00 P.M. on December 31 through 11:00 P.M. on January 1. Employees shall receive time and one-half for all hours worked during this time. Employees who work can elect to supplement only one shift on each holiday with PTO for double time and one half pay. The election must be made at the time the employee exercises his/her seniority for holiday purposes in Subsection (H)(3) above.
Christmas And New Years. (a) It is the intention of the Company to maintain operations on a voluntary basis for forty-eight (48) hours at Christmas and forty-eight (48) hours at New Year's starting at 20:00 hours on December 24th and 20:00 hours on December 31st respectively.
(b) The Company reserves the right to shut down operations during these periods.

Employees shall receive two times their regular rate for hours worked during the Christmas period and one and one-half times their regular rate for hours worked during the New Year’s period. Employees who work can elect to supplement only one shift on each holiday with PTO for double time and one half pay. Christmas And New Years. Where possible €or the Hospital to do so during the life of this Agreement, the Hospital agrees to maintain its present policy of scheduling employees during the Christmas and New period so that an employee will have either period off and in addition the Hospital will attempt to grant five consecutive days off at either Christmas or New Year's to those who have requested it. The Hospital may at it's discretion, waive all other scheduling requirements during this period. The Christmas period shall be defined as December 25th and 26th and the New period as December January 1st and 2nd.
Christmas And New Years. Employees shall be scheduled off work for a minimum of four consecutive days at either or New Years provided operational needs permit and unless the employee requests otherwise. Time off at Christmas and new Years shall include the periods following the December day tour to the December day tour inclusive and following the December day tour to the January day tour inclusive. Employees must request either Christmas or New Years time off by October Employees will alternate Christmas and New Years time off on a yearly basis. The shift schedule shall be posted by November The scheduling provisions will be waived between December and January to provide for Christmas and New Years scheduling.

In the first week of November of each year, the Employer will post a Christmas/New Year’s schedule for employees to choose their preference to work either holiday by seniority. The posted holiday schedule shall provide that every employee shall have at least Christmas and either Boxing Day or Christmas Eve (day, evening and night) or New Year’s Day and New Year’s Eve (day, evening and night). The final approval of which days an employee will be working or off will be made known by the first week of December and the final schedule will be posted as per Article 14.
Christmas And New Years. It is understood that the scheduling objectives set out in paragraphs and may be waived between December 15th and January 15th so that all nurses will receive at least five (5) consecutive days off or more, at either Christmas or New Year's, except in areas which normally are not scheduled to work on weekends or paid holidays. Time off at Christmas shall include Christmas Eve (December December 25th and December and time off at New Year's shall include December and January unless otherwise mutually agreed. In the event of a conflict, bargaining unit seniority within the given nursing unit shall be the decisive factor. Notwithstanding the above, once every four (4) years, full-time nurses may request vacation over Christmas and New Year's with the intent that would get Christmas and New Year's off in order to accommodate long distance travel. Such requests shall not be unreasonably denied. Preference will be given to more senior nurses accordance with full-time. Nurses wishing such consideration shall make such request by October 1st. Whenever possible, the Hospital will schedule at least one (I) extended tour off between shifts.
