WISCONSIN RETIREMENT SYSTEM. The City is a participating employer in the Wisconsin Retirement System (WRS). Retirement and its associated benefits are administered by the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF). The WRS is a federal Internal Revenue Code §401(a) defined benefit plan. The City and eligible, participating employees shall pay contribute a 50/50 share to their WRS account, as set by State law. Information on WRS requirements and eligibility can be found at xxxx://xxx.xx.xxx/index.htm or through the Human Resources Department.

WISCONSIN RETIREMENT SYSTEM. 8.01 The EMPLOYEE shall pay the full officer's contribution toward retirement (equal to that required by General Municipal Employees). 8.02 The Employer shall participate in the Wisconsin Retirement System pursuant to Wisconsin State Statute 40.21 and shall contribute the employer's contribution of the employee's earnings as required by 40.05(2). 8.03 Such retirement contributions made by the Employer as listed in Section 8.02 above shall be reported by the Employer to the Wisconsin Retirement System in the same manner as though deducted from the earnings of said employees. It is understood and agreed between the parties hereto that such payments made by the Employer shall not be considered municipality contributions. Employees shall be allowed to individually elect to contribute, by payroll deduction, the employee contribution of earnings to the Wisconsin Retirement System as set forth in Wis. Stats. § 40.05(1)(a)(1). Employees electing to pay the employee contribution to the Wisconsin Retirement System shall be allowed to participate in the same health insurance coverage provided to general city employees and are subject to the same employee premium contribution requirements as general city employees on the health insurance plan. Employee elections must be received in writing by the City prior to December 1st of the year in which the current collective bargaining agreement expires to be effective for the entire term of the successor collective bargaining agreement.
WISCONSIN RETIREMENT SYSTEM. 1. The District shall continue participation in the Wisconsin Retirement Fund so long as it is a part of a participating municipality as provided by Wisconsin Statutes or for the duration of the period of this Agreement, whichever is longer. With respect to earnings paid to participating employees who are members of the bargaining unit represented by MTI the District shall pay to the Wisconsin Retirement Fund the full amount in lieu of the retirement contribution required to be deducted from each payment of earnings by such participating employee through June 30, 2011. Commencing July 1, 2011, employees shall pay an amount equal to 50% of the total required WRS contribution to the Wisconsin Retirement Fund. 2. All of such payments of contributions made by the District shall be reported to the Wisconsin Retirement Fund in the same manner as though deducted from the earnings of said participating employees and all such payments of contributions made by the District shall be available for all Retirement Fund benefit purposes to the same extent as normal contributions which are deducted from the earnings of participatory employees, it being understood that such payments made by the District shall not be considered a municipal contribution. 3. A retired employee who is re-employed in this unit in the same classification by the District shall be compensated at that wage and step which said employee was earning at the time of their retirement. A retired employee who is re-employed in this unit shall be given credit for the employee’s total months of service with the Madison Metropolitan School District for the Agreement provisions related to wages.

Effective July 1, 2011, the employee shall pay fifty percent (50%) of the contributions to the Wisconsin Retirement System.
