Academic Accommodation definition

Academic Accommodation means accommodation in relation to the student’s participation in an academic program or particular class;
Academic Accommodation means modification to academic policies, procedures or the educational environment that would result in equal opportunity to attain the same level of performance, or to enjoy the same level of benefits and privileges enjoyed by others, and meets the student’s Disability-related needs. Examples of Academic Accommodations available may include, but are not limited to:
Academic Accommodation means a planned variation in the way a student with a disability receives course curriculum and materials, participates in course activities, or demonstrates mastery of course content and skills through evaluation and assessment. Ryerson University shall provide academic accommodation that does not impose undue hardship*.

More Definitions of Academic Accommodation

Academic Accommodation means an individualized adaptation in the way a student receives course curriculum and materials, participates in course activities and/or demonstrates task, course or program requirements. It is informed by three principles: respect for dignity, individualization, as well as integration and full participation. Accommodation is necessary to address barriers in education that would otherwise prevent students with disabilities from having equal opportunities, access and benefits. Under the Code, education providers have a legal duty to accommodate the needs of students with disabilities who are adversely affected by a requirement, rule or standard.
Academic Accommodation means an individualized adaptation or alteration of instructional environments, materials, or methods of assessment to provide a Student with a Disability an alternative means of meeting the Essential Requirements of a course or program. Providing Academic Accommodation mitigates barriers to the Student’s participation in the university’s academic programming but does not modify or lower the academic standards of the university or eliminate academic evaluation. A Student with a Disability who receives Academic Accommodation is responsible for meeting the Essential Requirements of a course or program. Academic Accommodation is individualized for a particular Student and may include but are not limited to:
