Supported Employment Placement for the purposes of this Interim Agreement, is defined as the provision of Supported Employment Services in an integrated employment setting: 1. Where the individual is compensated at or above Rhode Island’s minimum wage, but not less than the customary wage and level of benefits paid by the employer for the same or similar work performed by individuals without disabilities; 2. Where the individual works the maximum number of hours consistent with his/her abilities; 3. That allows individuals with disabilities to interact with individuals without disabilities in an employment setting to the fullest extent possible for the individual; and 4. That offers individuals with disabilities the same opportunity as non-disabled individuals: a. To access community opportunities at times, frequencies, and with persons of their choosing during appropriate times when the individual is not working, such as on breaks, during lunch, and before and after the work day; b. For promotion and/or advancement opportunities; and c. To perform tasks or work activities that match the interests, preferences, and skills of the worker.
Supported Employment Placement means the process employment of placing an individuals with a developmental disabilityies in an individual placement who are authorized for individual placement services with by an employer in the community, directly or through contract with a supported employment program. This includes provision of ongoing support services necessary for the individual to retain employment.
Supported Employment Placement means the provision of Supported Employment Services in an integrated community-based employment setting. This includes when a Participant is self-employed.

More Definitions of Supported Employment Placement

Supported Employment Placement means the process of placing individuals with developmental disabilities who are authorized for individual placement services with an employer in the community, directly or through contract with a supported employment program.

  • Supported employment means the ongoing supports to participants who, because of their disabilities, need intensive ongoing support to obtain and maintain an individual job in competitive or customized employment, or self-employment, in an integrated work setting in the general workforce at or above the state’s minimum wage or at or above the customary wage and level of benefits paid by the employer for the same or similar work performed by individuals without disabilities. The outcome of this service is sustained paid employment at or above the minimum wage in an integrated setting in the general workforce in a job that meets personal and career goals. Supported employment services can be provided through many different service models.

  • Customized employment means an approach to supported employment which individualizes the employment relationship between employees and employers in ways that meet the needs of both. Customized employment is based on an individualized determination of the strengths, needs, and interests of the person with a disability and is also designed to meet the specific needs of the employer. Customized employment may include employment developed through job carving, self-employment or entrepreneurial initiatives, or other job development or restructuring strategies that result in job responsibilities being customized and individually negotiated to fit the needs of the individual with a disability. Customized employment assumes the provision of reasonable accommodations and supports necessary for the individual to perform the functions of a job that is individually negotiated and developed.

  • Supported employment services means provision of job training and supervision available to assist an individual who needs intensive ongoing support to choose, get, and keep a job in a community business setting. Supported employment is a service planned in partnership with public vocational assistance agencies and school districts and through Social Security Work Incentives when available.

  • Affiliated Employer means any corporation which is a member of a controlled group of corporations (as defined in Code Section 414(b)) which includes the Employer; any trade or business (whether or not incorporated) which is under common control (as defined in Code Section 414(c)) with the Employer; any organization (whether or not incorporated) which is a member of an affiliated service group (as defined in Code Section 414(m)) which includes the Employer; and any other entity required to be aggregated with the Employer pursuant to Regulations under Code Section 414(o).
