Common use of Bereavement Clause in Contracts

Bereavement. A total of five (5) working days may be allowed per bereavement of the following: father, mother, spouse, child, or common-law spouse. A total of three (3) working days may be allowed per bereavement of the following: brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, father- in-law, mother-in-law, sister-in-law, brother-in-law, daughter-in-law, son-in-law, fiance or other person in loco parentis or any relative who lived in the home. One (1) work day may be allowed per bereavement to attend the funeral of a grandparent-in-law, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew. In case of extenuating circumstances, application may be made to the Superintendent of Education responsible for Human Resources, or designate, for additional time under this Article. For any working days which fall in this period and for which approval is granted, there shall be no deduction of pay.
