Common use of Bereavement Clause in Contracts

Bereavement. (a) An Employee shall be entitled to a bereavement leave without loss of regular pay and benefits in the event of the death of a member of her family, as follows: i. where the death is of the Employee’s spouse, son, daughter, spouse’s child, step- child, xxxx, brother, sister, father, or mother, the bereavement leave shall be up to ii. where the death is of the Employee’s father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, grandmother, grandfather, spouse’s grandparent, step-mother or step-father, the bereavement leave shall be up to 5 consecutive calendar days, excluding paid holidays. (b) Where an Employee’s scheduled vacation is interrupted due to the death of a member of her family, the Employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with Article 16.01(a). The portion of the Employee’s vacation which is deemed to be bereavement leave shall be rescheduled in accordance with Article 16.04(b). (c) If bereavement leave is required in the event of the death of a person significant to the Employee and not specifically named in Article 16.01(a), or additional bereavement leave is required in circumstances covered by Article 16.01(a), it may be granted up to a maximum of 3 days by arrangement with the Employee’s Supervisor. Such request will not be unreasonably denied.

(a) For “immediate family” member defined as spouse, as follows: i. where the death is common law spouse, same-sex partner, son, daughter, children of the Employee’s spouse, sonchildren of common law spouse, daughter, spouse’s child, step- childstep-children, xxxx, brother, sister, father, or and mother, the bereavement 5 consecutive Working Days of paid leave shall at her regular rate of pay will be up togiven. ii. where the death is of the Employee’s (b) For “extended family” member defined as father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, grandmother, grandmother and grandfather, grandparents of the Employee’s spouse’s grandparent, step-mother or and step-father, the bereavement 3 consecutive Working Days of paid leave shall at her regular rate of pay will be up to 5 consecutive calendar days, excluding paid holidaysgiven. (bc) Where an Employee’s scheduled vacation is interrupted due to the death of a member of her family, the Employee shall be entitled to bereavement leave in accordance with Article 16.01(a) or (b). The portion of the Employee’s vacation which is deemed to be bereavement leave shall be rescheduled in accordance with Article 16.04(b). (cd) If bereavement leave is required in the event of the death of a person significant to the Employee and not specifically named in Article 16.01(a) or (b), or additional bereavement leave is required in circumstances covered by Article 16.01(a) or (b), it may be granted up to a maximum of 3 days by arrangement with the Employee’s Supervisor. Such request will not be unreasonably denied.

Such request will not be unreasonably denied.

The portion of the Employee’s vacation which is deemed to be bereavement leave shall be rescheduled in accordance with Article 16.04(b).with (c) If bereavement leave is required in the event of the death of a person significant to the Employee and not specifically named in Article 16.01(a27.01(a), or additional bereavement leave is required in circumstances covered by Article 16.01(a27.01(a), it may be granted up to a maximum of 3 days 2 Shifts by arrangement with the Employee’s Supervisor. Such request will not be unreasonably denied.

Bereavement. The portion of the Employee’s vacation which is deemed to be bereavement leave shall be rescheduled in accordance with Article 16.04(b)16. (c) If bereavement leave is required in the event of the death of a person significant to the Employee and not specifically named in Article 16.01(a22.04(a), or additional bereavement leave is required in circumstances covered by Article 16.01(a22.04(a), it may be granted granted, without loss of regular pay or benefits, up to a maximum of 3 days by arrangement with the Employee’s Supervisor. Such request will not be unreasonably denied.
