Borrow pits a. The FMA licensee will have borrow pits identified in the operating plan and will have authority to remove trees over the pit through an approved operating plan. Volume and locations of borrow pits to be identified annually in operating plan summaries. b. Additional locations may be added as required, by notifying the inspecting officer. c. Reclamation must be conducted as per the Reclamation Guidelines for Sand and Gravel Operations (Appendix 1) d. Harvesting of trees on borrow pit sites must be approved in the operating plan or submitted as an amendment for approval prior to the harvesting occurring. e. A Forest product permit is required to remove trees over proposed borrow pits for a licensee other than a FMA holder.
Borrow pits. If because of an insufficiency of suitable material for use in back filling of trenches, road formation or if because of other circumstances the Engineer so agrees or orders, the Contractor shall supply such materials from borrow pits. The Contractor shall obtain the approval of the Engineer to the location of borrow pits and shall adhere to instructions in regard to the area, width, depth and slope of the borrow pits and also to the depth of overburden if any, which has to be removed. Prior to excavating materials from borrow pits, the Contractor shall strip all unsuitable overburden and lay it aside. The use as fill of this and other unsuitable material will not be permitted. After the use of a borrow pit has been finally discontinued, the overburden and any other unsuitable material previously laid aside shall be replaced in the pits, spread and levelled as required. The sides of the borrow pits shall be graded and the whole area shall be left in a tidy, regular and self-draining state, all to satisfaction of the Engineer. In case of payment for imported fill such fill will be measured solid, after compaction net as shown on Drawings. Supply of material from borrow pits shall, except where otherwise specified, be deemed to cover supply, spreading and compaction of the fill in the works and any other costs the Contractor might have including negotiations with owners, stripping and handling of overburden and the satisfactory reinstatement after completion.

Borrow pits. No borrowing of materials is permitted on site. All imported materials shall be from commercial sources.
Borrow pits. 4.13.1 Before opening of any borrow pits for the removal of material for forming embankments, the Contractor shall submit his proposals for the carrying out of the work, in writing, for the Engineer's approval. The proposals shall state the location of the proposed borrow-pit, the thickness of topsoil or unsuitable material to be removed, the depth of suitable material to be excavated, the type or types of material to be secured and the areas for stockpiling top soil to be reused to cover the borrow pit area. Any modification that the Engineer may require shall be made by the Contractor. The approval of the borrow pit area by the Engineer shall not relieve the Contractor of his obligations to ensure that all the material used as fill is as approved by the Engineer. The Contractor may be required to mix the materials excavated by bulldozing into stockpiles and face loading by shovel into lorries. 4.13.2 The Contractor shall be responsible for the access to any borrow pits, quarries or stockpiles. Any cost, rent royalties or fees which can arise in connection with access to such areas shall be borne by the Contractor and are assumed to be included in Bill No. 1 and Bill No. 2. 4.13.3 On completion of the excavation of borrow pit material, the Contractor shall leave the borrow pit in a tidy condition, top soil being replaced to cover completely the borrow pit area as directed by the Engineer. Where borrow pits are required to be drained, the Contractor shall do so at his own expense and in a manner as approved by the Engineer.
Borrow pits. Borrow pits are covered under the ITP for a five-year period ending on March 1, 2004. 1. PALCO shall utilize the same mitigation requirements for borrow pits as those required for roads, including the prohibition on new borrow pits in the RMZs, prohibition on new borrow pits in the mass-wasting areas of concern prior to watershed analysis, road construction/reconstruction standards, and wet weather operations. 2. Borrow pits will be mapped and analyzed for site-specific and hydrologic unit scale impacts as part of watershed analysis. Additional mitigation and minimization measures for borrow pits may be required as a result of watershed analysis. Additional mitigation may include, but is not limited to, installation of sediment control structures, limitations on overburden placement and distribution, removal of spoil material, revegetation, and abandonment. 3. The wildlife agencies commit to work with PALCO to process an amendment to the HCP to continue coverage of borrow pits after the expiration of the initial five-year period.

Borrow pits. Contractor shall prepare a Site Fill Materials Plan. Contractor shall also identify any borrow pits identified for use and/or the proposed supplier of fill materials for the Site or the Work Site as needed to meet the Liquefaction Project’s design requirements. Contractor is responsible to assure the borrow pit is permitted for use by applicable Governmental Authorities. Contractor is to make any necessary contractual arrangements, including for mud management, with borrow pit Suppliers and shall pay all costs therewith.
Borrow pits. If required, fill material which includes structural fill and general fill as specified in Sections 6.1,6.2 and 6.3 shall be obtained from outside borrow pits approved by the Engineer. Samples of fill and laboratory test results shall be submitted to the Engineer for prior approval.
