Career and Skills Development Fund. (a) Purpose The general purpose of the Career & Skills Development Fund is to provide relevant training and education opportunities for vocational instructors. Such opportunities are intended to assist instructors to maintain current knowledge and skills as well as develop new skills that will enhance instructors’ ability to achieve excellence in teaching. (b) The Fund (1) There shall be established at the start of each fiscal year a C&SD Fund equivalent to eighty four thousand dollars ($84,000) per fiscal year plus an amount equal to $400.00 per employee as of April 1st of each year. (2) This amount shall be pooled and administered by a C&SD Committee established by this Article. (3) Funds remaining at year end (March 31st) will be carried forward to the following year. (c) The Committee (1) The C&SD Committee will consist of: (i) One (1) Co-chair and three (3) members appointed by the Union; and (ii) One (1) Co-chair and three (3) members appointed by the Employer. (2) Committee decisions shall be made by majority vote of individual members of the Committee. (3) Quorum for each meeting will consist of both Co-Chairs and a minimum one (1) Member from both the Union and the Employer. (4) The Committee will: (i) meet to review applications every six (6) weeks, or as per the agreement of the Committee; (ii) develop a process for processing applications for the C&SD Fund; (iii) develop a plan to facilitate and encourage applications to the C&SD Fund; and (iv) issue a summary report of Committee activities to the Vocational Instructors Labour/Management Committee by March 31st of each year. (5) Documents generated in the management of the C&SC Fund will be managed in accordance with BCIT’s Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Policy#7600. (d) Short Term Leave Short Term Leave is defined as leave with pay to attend training/courses three (3) weeks or less in duration.

  • Skills Development The Company acknowledges the changing pace of technology in the electrical contracting industry and the need for employees to understand those changes and have the necessary skill requirements to keep the Company at the forefront of the industry. The Parties to this Agreement recognise that in order to increase the efficiency, productivity and competitiveness of the Company, a commitment to training and skill development is required. Accordingly, the parties commit themselves to: i) Developing a more highly skilled and flexible workforce. ii) Providing employees with career opportunities through appropriate training to acquire the additional skills as required by the Company. Where, by agreement between the employee and employer, an employee undertakes training providing skills, which are not a company specific requirement, any time spent in the completion of this training shall be unpaid.

  • Professional Development Funds 23.1.1 Two Professional Development Funds, a Professional Development Support Fund and an Education Leave Fund, shall be established to support professional development activities as defined in 23.2. On April 1st of each year, the College will allocate an amount equal to no less than 0.9% of total faculty salary (exclusive of severance payments) to the Professional Development Support Fund, and an amount equal to no less than 0.6% of total faculty salary to the Educational Leave Fund. Any unused balances in these funds shall carry over to the next budget year. 23.1.2 The College agrees to provide the Association with the authority to administer the program on behalf of the College for those activities approved by the College in accordance with 23.2, 23.4 and 23.5. 23.1.3 Nothing in this Agreement prevents the College from funding professional development activities in addition to those activities supported through the Professional Development Funds (23.1.1) in accordance with the procedures described in this Article.

  • Career Development The City and the Union agree that employee career growth can be beneficial to both the City and the affected employee. As such, consistent with training needs identified by the City and the financial resources appropriated therefore by the City, the City shall provide educational and training opportunities for employee career growth. Each employee shall be responsible for utilizing those training and educational opportunities made available by the City or other institutions for the self- development effort needed to achieve personal career goals.

  • Degree A recognised degree from a higher education institution, often completed in three or four years, and sometimes combined with a one year diploma.

  • Job Development Job development/placement is individualized and shall include weekly person-to-person job search assistance, assistance with identifying job leads, interview coaching and support, and maintaining a log of job search activities for the purposes of obtaining competitive integrated employment. By mutual consent of the consumer and the THE ARC XXXXXXX COUNTY, these services may be provided in-person or by Skype, FaceTime, or other online communication tools. Job development/placement may also include arranging job trials/job shadowing for individuals with a DORS Trial Work Experience Plan, assistance with completing applications, assistance with employer follow-up after interviews, use of personal employment networks in job search, and resume update. It would include time spent calling employers, visiting and educating employers and similar activities. Job development/placement shall not be paid for using supported employment funding and shall not include the Discovery process, which is pre-vocational in nature and may be completed prior to job development. Up to 60 hours for job search assistance, authorized in 20-hour increments, may be used for job development. Additional hours of job development may be requested and require written justification by THE ARC XXXXXXX COUNTY and approval of the DORS regional/program director. Job Development Reporting. The Employment Service Progress Form is expected to be submitted to DORS on a monthly basis per consumer. This form is available on the DORS website (xxx.xxxx.xxxxxxxx.xxx).

  • Bachelor’s Degree A four-year baccalaureate degree is recommended; however, applicants who complete a minimum of 90 semester or 135 quarter units of undergraduate study will qualify for admission. To be eligible to apply, the applicant must be on track to complete the required units through the summer term that precedes fall matriculation.
