Class Teachers. Class teachers will ensure their registers are maintained in accordance with The Education (Pupil Registration) England regulations 2006. Class Teachers will ensure any information appertaining to a child’s punctuality or attendance is communicated to the Attendance Clerk at the earliest opportunity. This will avoid unnecessary telephone contact with families or cause them undue concern. Class Teachers will report any emerging patterns of absence to the Head Teacher.

Class Teachers. For the purposes of this document class teachers are members of staff with whom the trainee will be working with during their training. Class teachers do not fulfil the same role towards the trainee as the designated mentor but are nevertheless required to support the trainee, particularly when the trainee is teaching their classes/groups. Class teachers should normally have had at least two years teaching experience. It is particularly important that class teachers should be good role models for trainee teachers. They should help trainee teachers develop the knowledge, understanding and skills of a beginner teacher appropriate to the stage of their training. Class Teacher role and responsibilities: • support the trainee teacher in the classroom; • advise the trainee teacher on all aspects of their class; • provide pupils’ names and key information on their development; • involve trainee teachers as far as possible in planning and assessment; • allow a phased introduction to whole class teaching through group work; • ensure that trainee teachers have effective plans for their teaching; • assess and provide feedback on sessions/lessons taught by the trainee; • advise trainee teachers on matters relating to classroom management and control; • help trainee teachers make effective use of classroom assistants; • check trainee teachers are aware of available teaching resources within the school; • advise trainee teachers on any matters relating to safety of pupils; • liaise closely with the mentor regarding trainee teacher progress. Mentors play a key role in helping trainee teachers to develop good professional practice. However, mentorship involves particular skills to do with adult learning. Mentor training is seen as the most effective way forward in the development of mentor skills. A full range of mentor training opportunities is provided by the University. All mentors will have completed a course of mentor training delivered by University staff (or staff from another HEI involved in ITT) before becoming mentor to a trainee. This training will also be delivered and updated through attendance at meetings related to specific school experiences and through optional further training opportunities.

  • Mentor Teachers A. A Mentor Teacher shall be defined as a Master Teacher as identified in Section 1526 of the School Code and shall perform the duties of a Master Teacher as specified in the School Code and State Administrative Rules and Regulations. B. Each bargaining unit member in his/her first three (3) years in the classroom shall be assigned one or more Mentor Teacher(s) by the Administration. The Mentor Teacher shall be available to provide professional support, instruction and guidance. Should either the Mentor Teacher or the Mentee present cause to dissolve the relationship, the administration will meet with the Mentor Teacher and the Mentee to determine an appropriate course of action. D. Upon request, the Administration may provide release time so the Mentor may work with the Mentee in his/her assignment during the regular work day. E. Mentees who are new to the profession shall be provided with a minimum of fifteen (15) days of professional development instruction during their first three (3) years of classroom teaching. F. Performance responsibilities of a Mentor Teacher may include but not be limited to: Work to establish a relationship with Mentee based on mutual trust, respect and collegiality; provide encouragement, support, guidance and feedback when needed; help Mentee feel welcome; take part in training to enhance teaching and mentoring skills; complete periodic evaluations of Mentor-Mentee program, as requested; contact mentees, minimally once a week, for formal or informal meetings; help Mentee learn about resources, procedures, curriculum, students' needs, building and district policies, regulations and schedules; promote a smooth transition between teacher training and the actual classroom setting; facilitate three-way conferences involving the Mentor, Mentee and Principal; provide opportunities for Mentee to observe the Mentor and other teachers; share new and alternative materials, methods and resources with Mentee; observe Mentee's teaching in a classroom setting; conduct pre and post observation conferences; and assist Mentee with goal setting.

  • SPECIALIZED JOB CLASSES Where there is a particular specialized job class in which the pay rate is below the local market value assessment of that job class, the parties may use existing means under the collective agreement to adjust compensation for that job class.

  • Student Teachers A. The term "student teacher" as used hereinafter shall refer to student teachers, intern teachers and all other such programs. Agreement to become a supervising teacher of a student teacher shall be strictly voluntary and is recognized not to result in such bargaining unit members becoming supervisors within the meaning of the Public Employment Relations Act (PERA). Probationary teachers are prohibited from accepting student teachers. B. It is expressly agreed that the Association may refuse to permit a bargaining unit member from supervising or directing the activities of a student teacher in the event: 1. The student teacher would displace instructional aides, para- professionals, or other current employees then employed. 2. The use of such student teacher would be used by the Employer as a basis for not hiring additional bargaining unit personnel. C. The Board shall disclose all terms of any agreement between it and any student placing institution. The terms and conditions of placement of student teachers shall be consistent with this agreement, unless otherwise agreed to by the Association. D. The supervising teacher shall have the right to accept an honorarium or other such token of appreciation as may be offered by the student/intern placing institution. E. Prior to acceptance of a student teacher, there shall be a meeting between the teacher, prospective student teacher, principal, president of the Association or an executive committee member of the Association. Following this interview, the teacher shall then have the right to accept or reject the student teacher. F. Any terms or conditions of this section not previously specified in this agreement shall be negotiated between the Board and the Association prior to implementation of future programs.

  • Special Education Teachers Elementary/Secondary Special Education Coordinators shall be compensated for an extended work day in the amount of four thousand dollars ($4,000).

  • Substitute Teachers 21.01 A substitute teacher is employed by the Division either to replace a regular teacher or fulfill an assignment which is less than twenty (20) consecutive days in duration. 21.02 Upon commencement of the sixth (6th) day of substitute teaching in the same assignment, a substitute teacher shall be paid for each day taught at the per diem rate (to be calculated as 1/x of the salary to which a teacher of the same qualifications and experience would be entitled under the basic salary schedule of the current collective agreement, where x equals the number of days in the current school year). This rate of pay shall be retroactive to the first day of the teaching assignment and shall continue in effect until the end of that specific teaching assignment. In-service days, administrative days and school closure days shall not constitute a break in the consecutive days for that specific teaching assignment. 21.03 Substitute teachers shall be paid as follows: Daily Rate (including vacation pay) 165.66 ** **Substitute Teacher rates for the 2021/2022 school year will be effective on the date the parties confirm the amount of the COLA adjustment (in January 2022 or as soon as possible thereafter.) Pay relating to the salary earned by substitute teachers during any month shall be forwarded to those teachers not later than the fifteenth (15th) day of the following calendar month. 21.04 Manitoba Teachers’ Society fees and Xxxxxxx Teachers’ Association fees shall be deducted from a substitute teacher’s pay. The Association shall indemnify and save harmless the Division from any and all losses, costs, liabilities or expenses suffered or sustained by the Division as a result of any claim or legal action arising from the deduction of local Association fees or Manitoba Teachers’ Society Fees. 21.05 A substitute teacher who has been employed for at least nine (9) consecutive days of substitute teaching in the same assignment in a school year shall be entitled to one (1) day of sick leave with pay for each nine (9) days taught in that assignment. Sick leave shall not accumulate from assignment to assignment. The use of sick leave with pay shall not constitute an interruption of the substitute teaching assignment. 21.06 If a substitute teacher is absent from a period of substitute teaching on account of bereavement leave granted in accordance with Board practice or policy, and that substitute teacher returns to the same substitute teaching assignment immediately following the period of bereavement, the period of leave shall not constitute an interruption of the substitute teaching assignment. 21.07 The provisions of the Collective Agreement do not apply to substitute teachers except as expressly provided for in Article 21 – Substitute Teachers: Article 1 – Obligation To Act Fairly Article 2 – Purpose

  • Class Size a) When CONTRACTOR is a nonpublic school, CONTRACTOR shall ensure that class size shall not exceed a ratio of one teacher per fourteen (14) pupils. Each classroom with 2 or more students shall be assigned at least one paraprofessional. Upon written approval by an authorized XXX representative, class size may be temporarily increased by a ratio of 1 teacher to sixteen (16) pupils when necessary to provide services to pupils with disabilities. For any billing period where the class size has exceeded sixteen (16) students for five consecutive school days, the CONTRACTOR shall have a 10% decrease in its approved daily rate for those LEA students that exceeded sixteen (16), for those days (over five). b) In the event a nonpublic school is unable to fill a vacant teaching position responsible for direct instruction to students, and the vacancy has direct impact on the California Department of Education Certification of that school, the nonpublic school shall develop a plan to assure appropriate coverage of student by first utilizing existing certificated staff. The nonpublic school and the LEA may agree to one 30 school day period per contract year where class size may be increased to assure coverage by an appropriately credentialed teacher. Such an agreement shall be in writing and signed by both parties. This provision does not apply to a nonpublic agency. c) CONTRACTOR providing special education instruction for individuals with exceptional needs between the ages of three and five years, inclusive, shall also comply with the appropriate instructional adult to child ratios pursuant to California Education Code sections 56440 et seq.

  • Itinerant Teachers Schedules of regularly assigned teachers who are assigned to and travel to more than one school or student home on a given day shall be arranged so that no teacher shall be required without his/her consent to engage in inter-school or inter-home (for home bound teachers) travel of more than thirty-five
