Compensation for Overtime Worked, Compensatory Time. Employees shall be compensated at the rate of one and one-half (1½) times the employee’s regular hourly rate of pay for any overtime actually worked. The Employer may elect to grant compensatory time in lieu of payment for overtime as described above. The Employer intends to utilize the process described in the preceding sentence for the training, implementation, and working of specialized assignments, e.g. bike patrol, SRT, etc., as well as during times in which there are budgetary constraints that prevent the payment of overtime. Compensatory time, if authorized, will be accumulated on a time and one-half (1½) basis for each hour of overtime worked. Employees shall not be permitted to accumulate more than forty-eight (48) hours of compensatory time, unless approved by the Sheriff. Any compensatory time in excess of forty-eight (48) hours shall be paid to the employee, unless approved as described above. Employees shall request the use of compensatory time in writing no later than forty-eight (48) hours prior to the requested commencement of such leave. The Employer may determine the need for an employee(s) to use compensatory time accumulated or direct the payment of said compensatory time to the employee.

Bargaining unit employees shall not be permitted to accumulate more than forty (40) hours of compensatory time in a year, unless approved by the Sheriff. Any compensatory time in excess of forty (40) hours shall be paid to the employee, unless approved as described above. Employees may accrue a maximum of forty (40) hours of compensatory time per calendar year. If an employee has hours of compensatory time remaining at the end of a calendar year, such time will rollover into the next calendar year and will count towards the maximum forty (40) compensatory hours that employee may accrue for the next calendar year.

  • Compensatory Time for Overtime Eligible Employees A. Compensatory Time Eligibility Compensatory time off may be earned in lieu of cash only when an institution and the employee agree. Compensatory time must be granted at the rate of one and one half (1-1/2) hours of compensatory time for each hour of overtime worked.

With the exception of the provisions in Section C.2.b., below, an employee required to work on a holiday listed above shall be paid at the employee's regular straight-time rate of pay for the hours actually worked.
