Death in Family or Household. ‌ If a Teacher’s absence shall be due to a death in the family (as hereinafter defined) or in a Teacher’s household, the BOARD shall grant a leave of absence with full pay for five (5) work days of the Teacher’s choice within two (2) weeks of the death. Additional leave may be granted at the discretion of the Superintendent with full pay less the amount of prevailing substitute Teacher rate of pay; provided, however, that where in the sole discretion of the Superintendent, sufficient extenuating circumstances exist, such additional leave shall be with full pay without such deduction. The termimmediate family,” as used herein, shall include the following relatives of the Teacher and of the Teacher’s spouse: spouse, partner, child, step child, parent, step parent, sibling, step sibling, grandparent, and parent/sibling/child-in-law, regardless of place of residence, and shall include any other relative or non-relative who at the time of death was a member of the Teacher’s household.

Death in Family or Household. A. An employee, upon notification of the death of employee’s spouse, child, step-child, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, parent, guardian, father-in-law, mother-in-law, brother, sister, brother-in-law, sister- in-law, grandfather, grandmother, grandchildren or member of the immediate household, shall be granted his or her next three scheduled working days off with pay, four days off with pay if the employee is required to travel beyond a radius of 500 miles.

  • Death in the Immediate Family The teacher may take a maximum of five (5) sick days per death at the time of the death. Immediate family shall be interpreted as mother, father, husband, wife, grandparents, grandchild, child, sister, and brother of teacher and/or his/her spouse. The ability to take leave ceases when a xxxxxx placement ceases unless the need for additional leave is directly connected to the previous placement.
