Death in the Immediate Family. 1. Up to five (5) days, as needed, shall be granted for bereavement per family member death. Such days will be deducted from sick leave. For the death of non-family members, personal leave or unpaid days must be used. 2. If extenuating circumstances exist, exceptions to this policy may be granted. 3. For purposes of bereavement leave, “family” shall be defined as: fiancé, spouse, child, parent, brother, sister, grandparent, grandchild, or spouse’s parent, brother, sister, or grandparent or a member of the employee’s household.
